I can't even imagine... I'm glad you're at home, getting to spend some real quality time with your family because right now that's the most important thing in the world. Very sorry to hear about the tumble. I had a couple of incidents like that when I was recovering from Guillain-Barré Syndrome in 1993-94, including one fall when I put quite a deep cut in my forehead and ended up looking like Frankenstein after the stitches were done! The feeling of being out of control when this happens is not nice, but I'm very glad to hear that you're finally healing up and getting the technology under control. I'll echo others here in saying that I'm glad that after an unfortunate fall, you're doing well. The wheels in my mind got to turning too - I recalled reading something a few years ago in Reader's Digest regarding a teenager that ran away from home, because he was convinced that the chemo treatments he was getting, were doing far more harm than help. His (adpotive) parents did convince him to return home, and sought alternative treatment. Essiac Tea Was the key component in winning the youth's battle against cancer. It could be worthwhile to track that tea down, although it could be tricky to do so. Last I knew, it was relatively available in Canada, but NOT in USA. He is doing better. He's able to keep down about 1000 calories of daily liquid nourishment. Even though that's about 1/2 of what he needs, it is sooo important to his health and a good step. As usual, he sounds in good spirits and has a positive outlook. He told me he is having problems with his IP and won't be able to log on here for awhile until he gets it all sorted out. His new laptop computer has picked up a bug virus that he's working on to correct. He's looking to his family for help with that. Even if he's still well short of the ideal calorie intake, the important point is that things seem to be going in the right direction. Recovered well from the fall. Have a hospital bed and very comfortable recliner set up in our family room. Able to use a walker to get around the house, and to twice-weekly IV hydration at the cancer clinic. Unfortunately, not able to get many calories or much protein into my system, so I continue to lose weight and strength. (Have vomited several times in last week, so I am probably not getting 1000 calories and 60 grams of protein per day). Support from family and friends has been great.
