Remember, with my small intestine totally blocked by the tumors, what goes in by mouth must come out by mouth (vomit). And coming at the end of the day, when I'd guess your system is tired to start with and needs to recharge its batteries, isn't going to help. When I was in hospital with GBS, the intense pain in my legs that would go on for hours as the nerve endings tried to repair themselves always tended to be at its worst between around 11pm-2am. Never during the middle of the day when you're in a better state to deal with it - that would make things too easy! Let's hope this was a minor setback and that things start to stabilise again quickly. That's a bad thing, but I am glad that you are here to compete in a who vomits worse contest. My doctor thinks mine is tied to a combination of the meds I take and some of the foods that I eat. She thinks that some of the preservatives in the food I am eating is reacting to my anti-seizure meds and actually causing a stomach seizure of sorts. All I have to do eat natural foods and it should stop the problem. Believe me, and I know you know this, the sooner I don't have to vomit the better. John, you are always on my mind and in my heart and prayers. Even now while I am getting ready to send my son back to atlanta to his mother, something that is just tearing me apart, my thoughts are still with you. Hang in there, you are loved by one and all, myself no exeption. Biggest issue right now is getting enough protein and calories to sustain myself. The cancer clinic suggests heavily diluting the protein and calorie supplement to reduce the chance of it causing cramps or further blocking my small intestine. The do NOT want to take the risk of direct protein though an IV"PIC Line", which has a very high risk of blood infection that could kill me.  |  IP: Logged John Pytlak Film God Posts: 9987 From: Rochester, NY 14650-1922 Registered: Jan 2000 posted 08-18-2007 05:31 AM                        Hi everyone, This is Anne, John's daughter. I am so sorry to give you the news that my dad passed away last night at 11:40pm EST after a year-long battle with cancer. My dad had a fantastic day Thursday -- he felt the strongest he has in a long time and had a very enjoyable day with his sister and brother-in-law who came to visit. He has been sleeping downstairs the past few weeks in a hospital bed and I have been nearby on the couch, and he slept quite well Thursday night. Friday morning he said he felt weaker than usual, but was very optimistic about trying to have more nutrition within the next few weeks. At 10am, he started having severe cramping and it got progressively worse as time went on. He was on 2ml morphine every half hour and nothing could stop the intense pain. Even though he had so much morphine, he never lost his consciousness and was very alert throughout the whole ordeal. He decided to enter hospice that evening. My sister Katie flew home from Boston and arrived around 10:30pm. At hospice, the nurses were able to give him enough sedatives to lessen pain, and he fell into a deep sleep. He died very peacefully, surrounded by family. He gave me his username and password a few weeks ago and wanted me to inform you of the news when needed. He loved participating on film tech and various film boards and he had such admiration and respect for you. He -- and my family -- appreciated all your kind words and prayers. My dad may not have met many of you face to face but he considered you all his dear friends. I'm sure it will be a busy time for my family so I am not sure if or when I will check back, but please know he left this world at peace and much loved. He would give a through answer to a person with experience, or a practical and simple answer to a beginner. I can not think of anyone else in this entire industry equal to John's importance that would spend so much time and effort to provide an answer. He would even back up his answer with references and links to follow. He made it easier for all of us to be more professional.  |  IP: Logged
