This is my new home movie theater located in my garage. Complete with a hi-tech projector and mono sound. I have one movie The Resurrection of Zachary Wheeler, which is a the best sci-fi movie Lesile Nielson ever did... Seen telecine kits for these machines by replacing the shutter assembly for a 5 wing shutter.. Just find you a one inch lens to make the pict bigger for they sometimes show up on eBone .. and a CinemaScope attachment sometimes shows up as well.. This is a common misconception. As cussed and discussed in other threads, it won't work with just the shutter. You also need a 3:2 pulldown with a 5-bladed shutter spinning at 720 rpm (yielding two frames per revolution of the blade). Yes, it might "look" like it's okay in the vidicon with a 5-blade going at 1,440, but that's only because you're getting 120Hz flicker from it, which is a multiple of the camera line frequency. All you're doing is reducing the shutter flicker, but 24 still won't go into 30 unless it's offset by a 3:2 movement. Btw, that's cool Allison! It's a manual threader, which is fine by me, however, I don't have big enough reels to put the whole movie on one. I need to find a speaker with a jack, because the speaker on it is pretty horrid. One of these I'll invest in a nice projector, but I think I paid $10 for it so I'm not complaining. I had a big ol' piece of cut out screen from when they tore down an old theater I worked at. Too bad I was dumb and folded it! Tim: I don't have any cartoons yet. Monte, I'll wager they don't KNOW the entire story. I got into an email exchange with someone who was selling 5-bladed shutters several years ago and tried to explain to him why telecine wasn't as simple as just changing the shutter. He didn't want to hear it. Btw, I apologize if I sounded like I was talking down to you. Allison.. $10 is a steal. Get an 8-ohm home stereo speaker, some speaker wire, and attach a 1/4" phone plug to the end. Should work fine with that projector. I have a B&H 1574. Manual thread, because I WANTED it like that. Been ages since I've had it out, though. (Now, where did I PUT that thing?) Btw, you should collect B-Westerns. You can get most of those on one reel! Sam... Sad in a way that how much new 16mm machines used to be, and now they are showing up in flea markets, thrift stores and yard sales for pennies. Like I tagged a B&H 399 in MINT condition for 3 bucks at a thrift store. and won a box of 20, 1kw bulbs for these older B&H - 179 to 399 - series on eBone for 20 bucks.. On that folded screen thingey: if not wrinkled too bad, take it outside and lay it out flat under the hot sun to soften up that vinyl to "iron" out the wrinkles..then roll it up on a tube of sorts.  |  IP: Logged Joe Redifer You need a beating today Posts: 12859 From: Denver, Colorado Registered: May 99 posted 07-31-2007 08:13 PM                        Sorry Sam, but someone posted a picture of a projector.
