I actually found two Image Dissector Toobes at a now out of buisness Surplus Toobe place here in SLC. I paid $500.00 apiece for them about 6 years ago. One went to a Microsoft exec for big bucks and I kept the other. Sad, but the toobe guy I got these from also originally had the cameras they came out of. He scrapped them out about 30 years ago not having a clue what they'd have been worth today. I have pictures I can post at home on my other puter but am(gladly) stuck in Montana for now. Interestingly an Image Dissector Toobe was built by hand by the original Farnsworth Lab people in 1977 to celebrate the 50th year since the first electronic television image was produced. Videos of this and other Farnsworth stuff can be found at Farnovision I still think his Fusor invention tops Electronic Television though... I was merely asking out of personal curiosity -- but if it turned out you weren't aware of its value, I was hoping I could convince you to just give it to me... I've seen that old cinecolor short of the Farnsworth studios which shows some beautiful (wooden cased?) cameras. It's a shame if those amazing pieces were the cameras that were scrapped, but yeah, the Image Dissector by itself is still mighty impressive. And yes, if he could have gotten his cold fusion to work, imagine. My Dissector is not a hand built type... they were liscensed to and actually were produced by a company in Ohio(whose name escapes me at the moment) and they were used for several different applications where light was abundent. My dissector looked at the inside of one of the Kennicott Copper smelters for many years before the camera was removed. I am not sur eof its exact age but I suspect late 30's just before the war. The imagers devised by Zworikyn and RCA were actually too sensitive for that sort of job. Actually if you read the book written by his wife you will discover as he eventually did that the fusor was self syustaining and did work. Of course it was snuffed by ITT but he did keep on doing some research on it after he returned to BYU... as Farnsworth And Accosiates. Many fusors are being built today by University students and in other labs. One thing that is surprising is that no building at BUY is named or dedicated after him.
