For Allison, the first disc is "Mikadroid" a 1991 Toho Studios direct-to-video release. The irresistible full English title is Mikadroid: Robokill Beneath Discoclub Layla. It got a "skip it" rating from DVD Talk. The second disc is one of five in a 1980 NHK documentary series titled Ningen wa Nani o Tsukuttekita ka? {What Has Man Created?). This one is Fune (Ships). I've done pretty good selling LD's on eBone with the diehard LD collectors out there who still enjoy seeing uncompressed FM analog video than the compressed MPEG form that DVD's uses. There's a ton that I have that are either Japanese imports, or movies that I think I can get more than $20 for (like the 80's rerelease of Metropolis). In this large collection I bought, I got 3 laserdisc arcade games as well: Firefox, Cliffhanger and Albraegas/Cybernaut. Dragon's Lair unfortunatly was not in that collection. I have a Tex Avery sealed LD box set up on ebay now. I put a reserve of $90 on it... Fortunately those titles look pretty good on DVD, so no great loss content wise. Haven't played many of mine in the last few years - I assume most of them are still fine. The last LD I played was during a talk I gave last year about anime as yet another Japanese pop-culture export. The disc was Hayao Miyazaki's only music video, the 1995 On Your Mark for the singing duo Chage & Aska. At the time, On Your Mark hadn't yet been released on DVD, hence the use of LD for playback.  |  IP: Logged Adam Martin I'm not even gonna point out the irony.
