That's hilarious! I guess if you're ever in doubt, a little eletrical tape over the IR sensor (if you can find it) will suffice. I did the same thing before I got my tethered remote, setting it on a 2 second delay to reduce vibration. I really love my remote. With it I can put the camera on bulb and leave the shutter open for 15 years... or until the battery runs out.

I'm getting the TC-80N3. It's a good bit more expensive than the RS-80N3, but can do some nifty things like time lapse photography.
