I was just in Eugene a couple of weeks ago on a Regal/Sony install. Visited OU years ago when I was looking at graduate programs. Haven't been keeping up with BD releases - is Animal House slated for a BD release yet?

Amazon is taking pre-orders for it priced at $19.99, but doesn't have an actual release date.

This is also true of The Birds, American Graffiti, and The Blues Brothers.

None of it is correct AND he speaks with much feinged authority.

He goes on...."snip <(they) used a two frame reference tone and visual simply because it's more recognizable than a single frame. A one frame beep can easily be not heard if your volume is not very high (I comment: yah, like if it is OFF, but then you wouldn't hear a 20 frame tone) and a one frame visual reference is very easy to miss." By this reasoning, you would miss every single number flashing by in the Academy countdown as the numbers are only a single frame and EASILY MISSED -- amazing how no one ever sees those numbers as a leader runs down...and a single beep, well no one can here that either....way to fast.

How come the countdown stops at 2 anyway? Why not just go to 1?

I was told it was so that if a projectionist missed timed a change-over slightly (you know, in the OLD days), he wouldn't get countdown on the screen, just black, which was the lesser of two evils. In those days, of course, it was [3] that was the last visible number with [2] and [1] theoretically counting down in black.

Wow Manny! That Dan Brockett guy is an IDIOT. Reminds me of people who say that splicing tape that isn't 8 perfs wide (to cover two entire frames) can't be seen on screen if clear tape is used...which is bullshit. The edges of the tape ARE visible on screen unless it is a dark scene in the form of horizontal lines. These people argue "its only one frame and the human eye can't detect that"...yet somehow the human eye can detect dirt specks, which are also only one one frame.

Geez. [Roll Eyes]
