Well, if that is true then CHRIST-mas is religiously insensitive to Jews and Muslims. So, Christmas should be taken off the list, too.
Then, since Thanksgiving is racially insensitive to American Indians, that should be taken off the list.
If that's the case, then, the whole sign should be taken down. It really wouldn't be necessary, anymore. Would it?
Besides, putting up signs is culturally insensitive to people who can't read English.

quote: Jim Cassedy I asked one of the clerks about it and he said that the term 'Black Friday' was both "politically incorrect and racially insensitive."
We're showing Lawrence of Arabia tonight, and running a couple of reels to test just now reminded me of the fact that the characters of middle-eastern extraction are referred to as "wogs" by the British officers frequently, throughout the movie. I get the impression that this term was never really used in US English, but in British English it's up there with the n-word on the political incorrectness stakes, so much so that I'm surprised that the film is still allowed to be shown in the UK - at least, without a disclaimer title card at the start.
As for Black Friday, when I first heard the term I was a bit confused. "Black [insert day of the week here]" in Britain means one on which an economic disaster took place (for example, "Black Wednesday" in 1992), so the first time I was in the United States during a Thanksgiving week, I was scratching my head as to why everyone was so cheerful at the prospect of Black Friday!
