Not sure why HWOF used it. Somewhat tasteless, given what happened to the real one! At least the game didn't involve picking up bits of space shuttle wreckage. The same lobby also features standees for the Paddington Bear movie and Fifty Shades of Grey alongside each other. We lost a colleague that day too - Greg Jarvis was a Hughes payload specialist on that flight. His office was right above our Operations Control Center (OCC) - I used to occasionally see and talk with him during his training for that mission. Talk about "non PC" humor (my specialty) - the shuttle jokes were already flying around the various labs at Hughes that afternoon. I realize it's a coping mechanism - a very human way to deal with such losses. Still, kinda weird to experience it at such a close distance. OK, 'nother pic - this one from Barco's blog. Shows the results from their first test of a proposed 6KW CO2 laser for image projection:  |  IP: Logged Leo Enticknap Film God Posts: 7474 From: Loma Linda, CA Registered: Jul 2000 posted 02-06-2015 07:48 PM                        The only explanation I can think of for that game machine is that it was pulled from wherever it was and put into storage for a long time immediately after the disaster, and then more recently the theater bought it for its lobby (maybe from a used game machine dealer, or Ebay, or some source like that), unaware that Challenger was one of the two shuttles that blew up. When I saw it I thought "Hang on a minute, is that ... ?" and had to look it up on Wikipedia to confirm that yes, it was. Most of the kids working at that place probably weren't even born when the Challenger disaster happened, and so they probably just don't know.  |  IP: Logged
