Someone up here read my post about the Opaque Projector I got instead of the Drive-in and sent me this Ebay Link asking if this maybe was the Projector.....The Answer is Yes that's the One.It was actually a neat little Toy. You could put it over photographs, Magazine or comic book pictures.illustrations,etc,. and project it on the wall or a Sreen if you had one. It made a very Large in Focus Image. Being at the Time that I thought the Little Drive-In actually had some type of little movie projector instead of Film Strips; This turned out to be a better Toy...

Scott; I've got it boxed up and put away but the AD with it says 4" x 6" I think it was bigger. One of my little ACER Laptop's screen measures 5" x 8-1/2" and it looked about that size...

I'd say this is an acceptable reason for the package not being delivered:

Oh jeez Steve, that reminds me.

One evening last summer, I was picking up a print from the local drive-in theater that had just closed for good a few days prior, that we were going to open at Plaza the next day.

I was familiar enough with the "booth" (just a trailer) that I just walked in nonchalant and was getting clamps, etc. In the low light, I saw what appeared to be the tail of the feature laid over the top tailed out. I wend to grab it and got within a few inches before I realized it was in fact, NOT the film tail, but but a tail nonetheless!

I jumped out of my skin, and nearly shat my pants. It took me a good solid 10 minutes just to get my wits about me and quit running around in circles out in the field. Then another 15 minutes to coax him off of the print, down the platter, and through a hole in the floor.

 -

The punchline??

The print was "Planes".

I can't make this stuff up.

So were you clamping the first feature on the center ring, or the second feature not on the center ring?

I've got a better one. When we put the print of "Snakes on a Plane" back in our delivery room for pickup, there was literally a snake on the floor right were the print would set. It was just a small garden snake, but you could not ask for better timing than that.

Looks to me like the movie on the top deck is complete on a center ring ready to go. The one on the middle deck is the first half of the second movie and the print on the bottom deck is the second half of the second movie. They just ripped the splice (which was made with opaque tape!) mid-show and called it a day. Then someone put masking tape (!) all over the second half of the print. What they hoped to accomplish by doing this is incomprehensible. There is no advantage to be had time-wise or effort-wise by doing this. Was this booth operated by someone who has had many, many strokes? This place clearly deserved to close for good.

HAHAHA!

I was clamping and taking "Planes", which is full and complete on the middle platter in the photo. So yes, quite literally, there is a snake on Planes.

There's a total of 4 movies on the platter stand shown. A double feature on the top, and a freshly (lazily. To be fair, his father had just passed, on top of the place having just closed, 0 fucks were given) split double feature on the middle and bottom platters.

The projectionist that did that is....... a character. He's a real interesting fellow, pretty good guy. He liked working with film but as you can see, wasn't exactly good at it.

He worked at the 10 plex I work at for a few years and after threading, he would get up from kneeling by using the platters as support(Larger fellow). The Speco LP270s at Plaza 8(where he also worked for a while) could handle it, but nooooot so much the AP3s... all the decks ended up warped and that made for some less-than-enjoyable tear-down.
