I was in the Air Force stationed in Austin TX when I saw Jaws at some theater in Austin. I remember it well because it was the first time I'd ever been to an "event" movie, as opposed to just buy ticket, walk in, sit down, watch movie, leave. It was a real communal experience. People in the audience jumped out of their seats when the severed head fell out of the hole in the sunken boat.
Jaws also played at the base theater to more sellouts.
One of the things I love about Jaws, in hindsight, is they made a damn good, groundbreaking movie despite enormous shooting difficulties. Pure magic. John Williams deserves much of the credit for the movie's success for the score.
Also what's her name the editor. Verna Fields. She got the Oscar for her brilliant editing work on Jaws. She is quoted as having said "There's a feeling of movement in telling a story and there is a flow. A cut that is off-rhythm will be disturbing and you will feel it, unless you want it to be like that. On Jaws, each time I wanted to cut I didn't, so that it would have an anticipatory feeling — and it worked."

quote: Bobby Henderson Mike, the label of "Internet Cop" fits you perfectly.
No, it doesn't. That's just nonsense that people like you come up with when you're pissed or embarrassed that you have been the recipient, or "victim," of being corrected. (Which is ironic since someone like you wouldn't think twice about correcting me or someone else when the opportunity presents itself.)
quote: Bobby Henderson That's because you're so hell bent on being right all the time (and being sure to rub it in anyone else's face in the process) you apparently have no clue as to how much it makes you look like a total dick.
And you're not hell bent on being right all the time??? Try reading your posts sometime, Bobby. (If you go back and read your own posts, Bobby, then maybe you'll recognize what most of the rest of us have already realized: that you're an arrogant jerk.)
Moreover, Bobby, you are a stubborn loser who cannot ever admit when he's wrong. What I have observed when you have been corrected is you tend to do one or more of the following: (1) you disappear from the discussion, (2) you attack the person correcting you, and (3) you try to spin your way out to avoid having to admit making a mistake.
Did you play sports as a child, Bobby? I ask because as an adult you appear to have no grasp of the concept of sportsmanship (which is related to the competitive nature of these Internet forums). With your attitude on these forums, you remind me of a poor-sport loser, like a tennis player who after losing refuses to come to the net to shake the hand of their opponent. My point is that the proper thing to do when corrected is to graciously accept the correction and recognize that the discussion has been advanced as a result of the correction (when dealing with facts, anyway).
When I post a correction it is an attempt to set the record straight. It is you who is hung up on this notion that I'm on a crusade to somehow embarrass people with a correction.
quote: Bobby Henderson Or actually you might have a clue as to how much an asshole you tend to be because people often project their own personalities onto others and read into things in that manner. That's likely why you shot flaming bullshit at Joe R. earlier without any justification to do so.
The reason I shot back at Joe was because I thought (perhaps mistakenly) that he was taking a cheap shot at me. When I read his comment and in particular the batshit remark I thought he was referring to that contentious thread from a couple of weeks ago where "Batman" was discussed. (I'm surprised you didn't recognize this since you, along with Joe and that jerk Chris Slycord, contributed to that thread heading south.)
quote: Bobby Henderson You often disappear for months at a time only to show up for the occasion of correcting other people's posts or bitching at them for repeating something you wrote on an earlier page and not giving you Michael Coate Inc.™®© credit -as if you somehow own all things related to movie trivia. Honestly, who gives shit? Not everyone in this forum does and far fewer than that do outside of this forum.
If you're so dismissive of movie trivia, why then do you mention such in so many of your posts? And, especially in regard to this "Jaws" thread, if you're so dismissive of the subject why then have you bothered to participate (commenting multiple times no less) and why did you bother to mention Oscar trivia and details about the film's box-office performance???
Frankly, your comments here, Bobby, are idiotic and reek of someone who is jealous. I hate to say that but I don't know what else to think.
