It is more popular today to call it something else than just to tag a "2" on it. It's kind of rare to see it done that way any more. I prefer the "2" since it helps people know what order they are supposed to be in. Hell, with the way Hollywood works these days, I'm surprised they don't do a 3D conversion of the original. Posts: 4247 From: Bloomington, IN, USA Registered: Feb 2002 posted 06-28-2010 05:35 PM                     sigh i saw JAWS in a theatre when it was first released ...and i remember the re-release too "just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, the original JAWS is back" btw JAWS is the movie that is responsible for my early interest in film projection -- my mom kept covering my eyes and telling me "don't look" so eventually i turned around and that's when i noticed the beam of light coming from the projection booth. people still smoked at the movies back then, so you could really see the "play" of light moving around in the air. magical. we have a whole class on the films of Steven Spielberg here at USC. It comes around every couple of years and, last year, I was the projectionist for it. we had brand-new prints of almost every SS movie -- including JAWS (with an SRD track). it was great to finally run the movie that gave me my love for film projection. my best memory of JAWS is all those dangling legs -- it made me pull my little dangling legs up onto the seat. i was afraid to take a bath, or even go the toilet. and, of course, who could forget that music? as for what hollywood would do today -- of course the sharks would be cgi -- especially since the mechanical shark was blamed for the production going overtime and overbudget -- and, besides, they did cgi sharks already -- remember "deep blue sea" ? -- that's one of my guilty pleasures in its time JAWS 3D was very good 3D -- but i think it was (quietly) a remake of REVENGE OF THE CREATURE -- from the CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON series.  |  IP: Logged Mark J.
