This one goes not only to a specific theatre, but the entire company!
Let me start off by saying, AMC I hate you guys with a passion!!
The week before Thanksgiving I attented "Master and Commander" at the Puente Hills AMC, it was the late show, 10pm something.. The booth dummy focused the first trailer, then I assume went home for the night. The feature came on out of focus and stayed that way. I was there with a date, so getting up to hunt down a manager to bitch at was out of the question. After the show, which never did get focused or have any sort of screen/auditorium check, I entered the lobby to find it deserted. It was close to 1am, and the only person I saw was some guy wiping down the concession stand. Everyone else had gone home or was hiding in offices!!
The following day I typed and mailed AMC corporate offices a letter about my experience, as well as my reciept for the 2 tickets purchased by me. Last week I recieved a letter from them with 2 freaking coupons for free popcorn!!!
How stupid are these people! I pointed out what a horrible show they put on, and proved to them that I paid full price for my tickets, and they don't have the decency to even send one pass!!!
I never want to go to an AMC again.

Lowes Cineplex 20 at Universal Studios, Orlando. Watching "Monster" in auditorium 13. Newer model Simplex projector, super 80 lamp, SDDS sound.
We walked in just as the policy strip was running... dirty & worn out. The picture had substantial vertical jitter, which stayed through the entire show, as did the dirt... which was plainly visible, thanks to uniform coverage from a well-focused lamp.
About a third of the way through the show, I couldn't take it anymore and went outside to ask someone to see if the audio was stuck in mono. The staff person went inside and said "sounds like right channel to me". I told him if he went in the left door it probably would sound like "left channel", too... but sitting in the middle of the auditorium pretty much sounded like one center channel & not much else.
About 2/3 into the show, stereo magically appeared.
At the end, we went up top to see what was in the booth... not hard... standing up in the top row puts you about eye level to the lens. No film cleaner, SDDS reader only (the whole theatre is SDDS only).
All in all, for a theatre inside a studio theme park... and at $8 a pop... the lobby was more impressive than the presentation.
However, they did have the foresight to provide lockers for patron items, such as cameras, backpacks, etc. [ 02-08-2004, 01:56 PM: Message edited by: Jack Ondracek ]
