I've finally settled for 4.0 to 4.5 depending on how full the house is. I have gotten a few complaints about the sound, but that has more to do with Nolan's mix, than with the house audio levels. (and then there was one crazy guy who kept insisting that I was running the film in "the wrong aspect ratio", even though I've only got ONE lens, & ONE aperture plate, and unmovable maskings. So it's a technical impossibility to run it in anything but the A-R I've got. . . even if I wanted to. When I ran my 5/70 test, 5.5 was waaaaay too loud. The DTS playerthingy has some test clips on it, in particular something called "The Bill & Buzz Show", and I when I tried playing that, to get some audio perspective, it too was way too loud @ 5.5. So- I wound up playing back the 5/70 for most of the run at a lower level setting on the CP-650 that sounded about as loud as "5.5" did for DCP's. I noticed there were a lot more trailers than when I saw this at the Universal City 15/70 IMAX. I could also clearly tell the trailers were digital and postage stamped on the IMAX screen. And then sure enough to my absolute horror, I see the first shot of Dunkirk and realized this was the IMAX digital version. For some reason I thought and had hoped they were showing digital trailers and would then switch to the film print, which is why I stayed till it started. I immediately got up and walked out! The manager said, "yeah sorry IMAX packed everything up on Sunday." I decided to give Regal a piece of my mind about this since there was no warning that the 15/70 print was swapped out.
