John, you forgot Peter Anderson, without whom every Disney and Universal 3D theme park production would look like crap.

Megaplex 17 @ Jordan Commons + IMAX (Sandy, Utah) is also part of the program (but we are not a Regal theatre). I believe we are actually the first to have running Barco DLP install instead of the Christie DLP.

With 3 weeks to go before this picture releases, are there any more theatres that can confirm they're installing DLP for "Chicken Little"?

So far, I count 3 on this thread, with a list of "gonna haves".

Was it something like 85 projectors that were available for purchase on this project? Where have they gone?

4 so far here in Michigan with one more for sure coming, maybe another too. Waiting on silver screens so I can't comment on the 3D yet but the rest of the setup (Dolby server and Christie DLP) is great, but honestly I am waiting to see feature film run for a couple weeks before I form opinions...

First of all, I must say that, yes, that list is unofficial ... since we're 50 miles from LA (but that's forgivable, since it looks like only key cities were used as locations), and (now this is not so forgivable!) there's a mysteriously missing "+IMAX" from that entry!!! I'm insulted! [Razz]

The port glass was installed and the silver screen was erected two nights ago. This morning the sound rack was assembled, the projector itself was constructed and moved into place. We've tested on-screen stuff and that thing is BRIGHT and colorful and even and pretty. As a fellow projectionist put it, it makes our other DLP look like Pole Position.

Not sure how much more wiring and automation stuff is involved, but we're days away from being operational, it seems. Woo hoo!

I'll try to sneak a quick snapshot of the setup tomorrow night, just for something to flavor this thread up.

I've been watching over the installation of ours where I work. We got the port glass, rack server, and the projector installed. The only thing left is the getting the silver screen up.

We also just got some fantastic new digital pre-show projectors that look very nice on screen.

But to get back on topic ...
Thank you! I was on the verge of revising the title of this thread. [Smile]

Here's what I have as of Oct. 13 for the "Chicken Little" Digital Projection locations. NOTE: some presentations are scheduled to be 2-D DLP, and the engagements should be considered tentative until all of the requisite equipment has been installed, tested, the bookings have been finalized, and the actual "film" has arrived.

I was kind of hoping we could come up with just the theatres that are installing new systems in time for Chicken Little. Some of the above listings have been around for awhile.

Am I to understand that the only theatre in Los Angeles running this in 3-D is the El Capitan?

Jack,
Most of the theatres listed are new installs.

Jeff,
Not necessarily; the list is a work-in-progress. I'll keep the list updated as I receive more information.

Mike,

Just got word from Disney that the official list should be out by next week.
