Wow, not being able to pre-screen is not good. When my DLP releases come in, the studios have paid a third party company to screen it. Why? I don't know. I have everything setup when the tech arrives anyway. My servers are NOT hooked to the network at all. Don't want any nasty viruses as my servers are currently Windows based.

Wow. That's really interesting. So I wonder what happens when you have a school showing before operating hours or something like that.

I honestly don't know. I'm guessing we would have to go through Dolby/Disney about that. We had nothing to do with the booking of our press screening tomorrow night. That was all done via our film buyer.

Loews Metreon SF is charging $2 extra.

Century 20 Daly City has no extra charge.

For an intelligent person pirating a 3D movie is just retarded and they would know better because you won't be able to see much 3D, if any at home.

Though most movie piraters are idiots anyway so who knows.

We have had people trying to pirate IMAX 3D movies by attempting to shoot with 2 DVcams held up to a pair of 3D glasses [Roll Eyes] [Confused]

BTW does anyone know who is making/installing the silver screens?
MDI?

Sounds like Marcel isn't going to be a happy camper. A bunch of returned screens sure don't help the bottom line. [Frown]

MDI seems to be struggling since Andrew Lee departed.

So, after several calls and a mad scramble to figure things out, we finally learned that the license key we were expecting on Tuesday was not shipping separately, as we were originally told and anticipating, but instead was already INCLUDED on the removable hard drive the movie was shipped on. But it was on a timer so that it wouldn't be valid until 12:01am Wednesday. It validated the feature through the 11th, at which point we should be expecting another license key to be shipped, so we can play the movie for another week.

We had our training, learned a little of the ins-and-outs of the Dolby Digital projection thing, and we screened Chicken Little tonight. My review has been posted.

Can anyone post a pic of [the 3D glasses]?

Here are the glasses.

And here is me wearing the glasses.

Sorry, I didn't yet get a shot of our projector setup ... but, if it's allowable, I'll try.

Here's a link to a picture of the Barco projector from their site:

Barco Dp100

The Z-filter is just a rectangle piece of LCD glass that hangs in front of the lens

"Nothing came OUT of the screen. It was all flush to the screen and receding from it, so it had a little depth, but nothing engrossing or pulling you into the film."

Brian and others, this describes what it looked like when the left eye/right eye settings were backwards on one install. You should call Dolby but you can test it by flipping the glasses to see if the 3D effect improves. The Dolby trailer numbers and logo should come right out to your nose, the Chicken Little logo should too. If the glasses flip works, call them because there is a phase switch and settings in the software on the projector to fix it. It may be as easy as flipping a switch. I helped in 6 installs and have seen the demo in 4 of them so far and it looks great.
