The "print" came in today, 89 gigs on a removable hard drive and it was loaded/verified in something like 45 minutes. The license key to unlock the feature comes tomorrow.

"Building" the print and trailers and policy spots is a breeze! Drag and drop couldn't get simpler.

We received our 3d glasses today
Presuming these are throw away rather than reuseable. Are they card or plastic frames? Can anyone post a pic of them?

Since I wear corrective glasses, trying to wear 3D Polaroid glasses, or those POS LCD goggles, on top of/over my regular glasses just doesn't cut it. It was OK when I wore contacts...

Then you obviously haven't tried our super comfey 3D glasses [Cool] which fit comfortably over prescription glasses.

I'll even send you a pair to try out

The 3D glasses are green plastic frames with the polarized lenses. Sorry don't have a pic but they are supposed to resemble the glasses Chicken Little wears in the movie. They are throw away glasses because Disney is promoting the glasses as a take home souvenier.

Kerasotes is ... not allowing employees to see the movie for free.
What's the point of that? I can understand if the movie is selling out, but if it's a late show and the theater is only half full anyway, what's the problem? Or are they just looking forward to all that extra revenue that they will get from letting employees watch it?

I have no clue. We are still trying to get permission to preview the movie. Our understanding is that we get charged every time we run the movie on the projector so the company doesn't want the movie to be run if it doesn't have to be. Once they get the ethernet hooked up home office will be able to know when it was run and if it is run when it is not supposed to be, when they find out who did it will be fired.

We are hoping we can preview it. Since none of us have ever dealt with a digital projector we want to make sure that we put the cues in the right spots and cue them for the right moment because we are having a press screening Thursday night and we want everything to be perfect.

The hard drive was delivered yesterday but we are still waiting for our key. It is coming on CD via Fed Ex.

That's pretty crazy. Do they at least give you some test material (hopefully in 3D) that you can run for "free" to make sure that the setup works? It would suck if the left and right eyes were accidentally reversed for the initial screening!

Yes today during training we each got to build a test "movie". They had a 3D Chicken Little preview on there and I got to say AMAZING!

Also our company isn't allowing the shift managers full access to the projector. They are getting separate training tomorrow and are only being shown how to start. The only thing us salaried managers were shown in addition to starting was how to build and to monitor the bulb.

I know what you mean Amanda. I did that myself a couple of weeks ago. Speaking of which, I was told I would get training on how to show 3D movies, but I never did and had to figure it out myself. When a specialist did finally come in (to check light output), I ended up saving him several hours of work since I had already set everything up correctly. The only thing I missed was a phase switch in the wrong direction inside the machine. Took 2 seconds to correct.

I've since built other 3D demos like Shark Boy and Lava Girl. 3D looks fantastic on it. Can't wait to see a full feature in 3D on it!

Found out this evening that our silver screen is going to be replaced because the current one is blotchy. They are coming out tomorrow evening to replace it. Apparently we are not the only theater to have to get the screen replaced.

By who? Disney? I thought studios WANTED their movies to be pre-screened by theater personnel. Maybe they think nothing could possibly go wrong since they're not using film. [Roll Eyes]

I think it is Dolby that will be charging us per use. I don't remember who they said. Either our licensing key will allow us a certain number of plays or with only allow us to run the print during a certain time period. Our tech guy wasn't 100% sure because the Dolby guy who trained him wouldn't give him a clear answer.

either way, i don't see why an employee couldn't sit in on a regular show that didn't sell out.

Wow. That's really interesting. So I wonder what happens when you have a school showing before operating hours or something like that.
