Just got word from Disney that the official list should be out by next week.
That's great, but...as I wrote in a previous post: "the engagements should be considered tentative until all of the requisite equipment has been installed, tested, and the actual 'film' has arrived."

I'll be surprised if all of the systems are installed by Nov. 4th.

Word is they were shooting for 100, but will come up short at around 88 or so.

My tech mentioned that the new Bridgeport 18 in Portland, OR. had one that he was suppose to help install... Don't know any more info, other than that. (That's a Regal, BTW.)

Nothing in OK. But it's not like I'm just aching to see "Chicken Little" in 3D HDTV.

"Chicken Little" theater list updated.

Do you guys want me to (a) leave the list where it is (on page 4) and edit whenever new info comes along, or (b) would you prefer I create a new post each time new info is added, or (c) we can drop the discussion of the theaters, wait for an official list to be issued, and the 3-D enthusiasts can resume arguing the pros and cons of 3-D?

"B" it is.

Here's what I have as of Oct. 17 for the "Chicken Little" Digital Projection locations. NOTE: some presentations are scheduled to be 2-D DLP, and the engagements should be considered tentative until all of the requisite equipment has been installed, tested, the bookings have been finalized, and the actual "film" has arrived.

As far as the 3D presentation goes for Rave in Texas, only Hickory Creek 16 in TX, and North East Mall in Hurst TX are setting up for it.

Re. Drive-in's: REAL D tells me that their system is currently designed for interior use only. However, if should the demand arise, they would be willing to work on a solution for drive-in theaters.

Michael,

I believe your list is mistaken for Loews. First off, the Rio in Gaithersburg MD is an 18, not a 14 and only has a 1.3K DLP. I believe the 2K installation for Chicken Little will be happening at the Georgetown in Washington, DC (not on your list).

Steve,
Thanks for the corrections. I'm sure there are other "errors" present. That is the nature of gathering information of this type from multiple sources --- some clued-in, others clue-less --- prior to it being official. I've made five or six updates already, and I bet I'll make as many before Nov. 4. In particular, I question some of the Century and Loews info. And, just a couple of posts ago, someone mentioned there being only two 3-D showings for the Rave circuit; I was informed there will be nine. And on and on...

Amazingly, I've spoken to more than one exhibitor who did not know the difference between IMAX and Digital Cinema. One theater which has DLP installed (2K even) insists they cannot run "Chicken Little" because they don't have IMAX!

Anyway, so what if Gaithersburg has the older 1.3K system. I'm under the impression that Disney is offering "Chicken Little" in 2-D DLP as well as the new 3-D format. (Many of the theaters on the list will be 2-D; I thought that was clear in one of my prior postings.) Anyone heard differently?

You're the man! [thumbsup]

I'm still trying to confirm this, but I would be very suprised if Chicken Little DOES NOT show in 3D at the AMC Pleasure Island 24 at Walt Disney World.
