I'll bet the Dolby stuff can't program volume changes though.
Not completely sure about that ... it doesn't appear so. But, the IMAX DTAC sound system lets you! [Wink]

The Dolby show player is networked with the CP650 and can make sound format and volume changes at any time you program, trailer by trailer if you want, and in and out of EX if you want.

Gee, we can program a week's worth of start times on our Strong DA10 automations - which we bought almost 15 years ago. It's a pain to do, but the feature is there.

Last night at ShowEast, Disney only showed 15 minutes of Chicken Little in 3D. A number of shots were sent back by Disney to ILM last week to get a more immersive feeling. The full 3D conversion with the new shots is expected to be completed by Wednesday with the film world premiering on Sunday.

Yeah, seems like they are really pushing the deadline if shots are getting sent back that late.

BTW, have you guys heard of people who cannot see in 3D? Its something to do with not having developed that part of their brain in their early childhood. That would suck to not be able to see 3D.

My roommate actually has that exact condition. There was damage to one of his eyes when he was young. Although the technology to fix what's wrong with the eye does exist, and it's a fairly simple procedure, his brain had adapted to favor the other eye early enough that the procedure would not be effective at this stage in his life (30). The brain would continue to "ignore" the input from the fixed eye, with (to my knowledge) no way of ever "conditioning" the brain to understand. He's legally blind in one eye, and hence, has no depth perception.

He's not bitter that he can't see in 3D. He, like his brain, just learned to adapt his view of the world with what he's given.

What? Did they actually run some algorithm CONVERSION to simulate 3D, or did they render independent camera "eyes" like they should have, and had no reason not to do?

2 theatres in the Cincinnati OH area that are showing the 3D version are only 6 miles apart. Strange how things like that happen some times!

I could see that proximity in a big city, but not the northern suburbs of Cincinnati OH.

We received our 3d glasses today. 10,000 [Eek!] If we were to sell out every time we ran the show it would take us only a week to run out of glasses but I don't look for us to sell out every single show. Might on the weekends since we are the only theater in Indianapolis (Contrary to belief Plainfield is its own town) playing in digital.

We tied our CNA 100 into the Dolby NA10 so that the status panel works. There are programmable inputs and outputs. Can't have that digital running during a fire.

OK, I have a few things to bring up, some maybe a little off the topic of "Installing Digital Projector"

Almost all chains are adding a surcharge; I found the following through Fandango/Moviephone:
Regal: $1.50
Crown: $1.00
N/A: $2.00
Mann: $1.75
Harkins: $1.00
Rave: $1.00

Century is not charging extra, AMC and Loews did not have tickets on sale when I checked.

Also, I figured the reason it took so long for the chains to negotiate which theatres would get a 3d digital projector was so they would have it exclusively in their market. 2 confirmed theatres (by box office brochure) in the NY market, the City Center 15(N/A) and New Roc City 18(Regal), are only 10 miles apart. What sense does this make when there are several whole states that won't be getting these projectors at all?? Im not familiar with the rest of the country, but is this the case anywhere else? Why would N/A, Regal, or even Disney want to put two of these so close together?

I will try to scan/take a pic of the brochure

One more thing, my theatre got 2 of these projectors(Barco). They are all set up and ready to show the film. Is anyone else getting 2 3d projectors?

Kerasotes is adding a $1.00 surcharge and not allowing employees to see the movie for free.

We got 1 digital projector and Plainfield Indiana which is only 20 minutes via I465 from us I believe got at least 1 but I wouldn't be surprised if they got 2. They are a new theater just opening up so that is why there 2 chains within good distance with a digitial projector.

I'm excited. We are training Tuesday at 9 am.
