Trek Review I am getting more excited about it in spite of my skepticism. For example (and this might be considered a spoiler though I wouldn't say so) they have Chekov in the film and he wasn't even in the cast for the first season. This was debated around the time of "Wrath of Khan" as "Space Seed" (the episode that introduced Khan) was a first season episode and Chekov is the character in "2" that recognizes Khan - and Khan (no doubt due to his superior intellect) remembers Chekov as well. We just accepted that perhaps Chekov was on the ship but not yet on the bridge crew at the time and therefore they may have crossed paths. Yeah, I used to have too much free time. What I am very much looking forward to is the imminent blu-ray release of TOS season one. The reviews have been stellar and it is priced at only $72.99 at Amazon. I fixed that link. Well, Chris, I always said I would be open-minded about it and I would like it to be good. It is shaping up to be a big release and I am always glad for the industry as a whole when that happens. I will always cherish the fact that I was there for the release of "Titanic". Beginning with the release of (and probably due to the success of) Star Wars there has been little science-fiction in our entertainment. Instead we have westerns with space ships instead of horses and space travelers instead of gunfighters. They might be great entertainment but the days of thought-provoking sci-fi/fantasy programming pretty much disappeared after ST:TOS, The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits. Having said that, I've only seen a couple episodes of that series, as Sci-Fi Channel doesn't come over my antenna.  |  IP: Logged John T. It takes place 8 years after NEMESIS, and it's supposed to bridge the gap between NEXT GEN and the new movie. The comic itself is very poorly written and drawn, but the story is interesting. It's very NEXT GEN oriented, featuring Picard, Worf, LaForge and DATA (wha...?). However, the main conflict is between Old Spock and the new movie's villain, Nero. I would recommend it for the Geek factor, if not the quality. There's also a 6-page prequel comic in the new issue of Wired Magazine which was written by Kurtzman and Orci. You can read it on their site. It features an Old Spock reflecting on his life thus far. I found the movie to be entertaining. It's definitely intended for fans of the original Trek series and movies.
