Registered: Aug 1999 posted 05-05-2017 01:33 PM                     The United Artists Beaucatcher Cinemas 7 in Asheville NC closed for good on January 17, 2017. I worked there from 2005 until 2013, when the last film projector was removed. I got a single P35C projector head. The property was sold a couple of years ago, and the theatre stayed open until the lease expired. More stores and a restaurant will be there, soon. They knocked it all down in April. We had 16 3-5 year old HVAC units that were destroyed in the demolition. It opened as the Litchfield Beaucatcher 5, in 1982. The booth was all Christie packages. Then, United Artists Theatre Circuit bought it, and added 2 large theatres. It had its original drapes and seats in all theatres. RIP. This had private cabanas, which had sofa style seats, intercom snack delivery, volume, light, heat and air-conditioning. The building will become a church campus. An old slope operating since 1995, the lease expired in 2015 and Warren intended to close it then, but agreed to remain open on a month-to-month lease until the owners found a buyer. Registered: Jun 99 posted 05-19-2017 06:27 PM                     Landmark Theaters' Sunshine Cinema, on Houston Street in Manhattan's East Village, will close in January 2018. The building has been sold and will be redeveloped into retail and office space. One of the most historic theaters in NYC, the Sunshine dates to 1908 when it was a venue for Yiddish vaudeville acts and eventually movies. Landmark redeveloped it into a five screen arthouse in the fall of 2001. The Marcus Value Cinema - Oak Creek in Oak Creek, Wisconsin closed May 21, 2017. The Parkway Theatre in Baltimore, Maryland opened on May 3, 2017. Landmark has been divesting themselves of their Seattle-area theaters over the last few years. Right now the only location they have left open is the discount Crest 4-screener in Shoreline. The Metro - 10 screens. Became a Sundance, now AMC Dine-In The Varsity - 3 screens. Now run by Far Away Entertainment The Neptune - 1 screen. Now a live venue The Egyptian - 1 screen. Now run by SIFF The Harvard Exit - 2 screens. Redeveloped. And now the Guild 45th and Seven Gables? Seattle's funky art houses seem to be disappearing. This happened in LA as well when I lived there. The Premiere LUX Cine features wall-to-wall screens and over 1,000 electric leather recliner seats with USB ports and individual tables. Even the headrests are electric and adjustable. The lobby features a large concession stand with free unlimited self-serve refills of popcorn and soft drinks from computerized touch-screen fountain dispensers offering dozens of flavor options. It also features the PIZZA PUB, a full-service café/bar specializing in craft draft beers, iced coffee on tap, wine and spirits, plus gourmet pizza, wings and more which guests can enjoy either in the lobby or in the theatre. Guests can also select their own seats using touch-screen monitors throughout the lobby before heading to the arcade, concession or PIZZA PUB. Tickets can also be purchased in advance on line or at the concession stand. According to Premiere CEO Gary Moore, Premiere LUX is all about providing more options and amenities so movie-goers can more fully customize their experience on each visit. “This is the theatre I want to go to for my movies. It’s modern but nostalgic, spacious but cozy, and has amenities that appeal to discriminating adult audiences but still is completely kid- friendly. It’s got a lot of diverse features I think people of all ages will really enjoy.” Director Jason Thode agrees, adding his favorite feature is the adjustable recliner headrests. “The first button on the chair controls the recliner, but the other button controls the headrest itself which can be adjusted to get the most comfortable viewing angle regardless of where you’re sitting in the theatre. For a lot of people that feature alone makes all the difference, we get a lot of ‘wows’ when people sit in them!” The public is invited to check out the complex and enjoy free movies starting at 12:00 noon and 2:30 pm Thursday June 15th . Tickets for these free shows must be reserved in advance at the company’s website and are available on a first-come first-served basis.
