Hi all, I'm Richard Curtis.

I'm from Somerset, in South West England, but work in Liverpool, in the North West.

I'm a Theatre/Production Technician, trained at LIPA, and now working as a Production Technician at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. Mostly this means moving chairs and tables around, with a fair amount of Lighting, Stage Management and Sound. However, we show films approx. twice a month, so I project as well. Oddly enough, the projection is the reason I'm here on Film-Tech!

Sadly, I'm not related to the screenwriter, I wouldn't complain if someone sent a cheque my way by mistake! [Wink]

Came in as an usher in the Eastern Federal Corporation, fast tracked in projections over the summer of 2005 during Regal's buyout, and manager by November.

EDIT: Woohoo, picture loaded! In Chattanooga, TN for the Head of the Hooch regatta. I used the Silver Surfer mannequin deck in one of Clemson's unis for our mascot last year.

I'm the general manager of Lakeport Cinema 5 and Lakeport Auto Movies in Lakeport, CA. We're part of Paradise Cinemas, Inc which used to be Tegtmeier Associate. They owned the theatres in Vacaville and Fairfield until Edwards and Brenden came to town.

I started working in theatres in 1996. Got hired as a manager with my current employer in 1999 after I did the invites for his grand opening while I was working at Kinko's. Prior to my current company I was a manager/projectionist for Feather River Cinemas in Oroville, CA.

Well I better say... hello [Smile]

My name is Graham Ritchie, been a projectionist for about 10 years [Eek!] the last five as head projectionist at a cinema called "Movieland" here in Christchurch, New Zealand. prior to that worked in motor/aircraft engineering trades since 1967. I have been mucking about with Super8 and 16mm for years, working as a cinema projectionist has been a lot of fun and the people I work with are great [Roll Eyes] well cant think of much else.

Regards Graham.

My name is to the left. I have been in the business since 1997 when I started making popcorn and selling tickets at a locally owned single screen built back in the 40's. I worked my way up to GM gaining lots of knowledge good and bad by simply having to fix stuff myself.

I left the single to be an Asst. Mgr at a 4, 6, 4 and 12 screen before I became a GM at an 8 and am now a GM at a 12 screen theatre in Spokane Washington.

I am also a booth trainer / certifier for our district and have been for 6+ years. Booth has always been my favorite area of the business and where I feel most comfortable.

During my time in the industry I have kept going by working part time delivering Pizzas and frying fish at a seafood joint, because we all know that this industry will not make you rich, but it can make you very happy. [Big Grin]

Greetings! My name is Cassandra Palko. For 9 years Marcus Theatres was a second job of mine. It was what I did on evenings, weekends and holidays. I had held several day jobs – but always remained faithful to the movie theatre. This April I was given the opportunity to become Manager of a newly renovated location in Mequon, WI – North Shore Cinema. I leapt at the opportunity. I’m not getting rich – all my day jobs paid better – but I truly enjoy what I do.
Thanks for approving my application. I have been reading this forum for over a month and am happy that I can participate and get some input from other theatre professionals outside of my own company.

Welcome Cassandra. Good for you. I have loved this business for many years. While I retired from it once I really like to get back into it. I spent 5 years in northern Minnesota and managed a theatre in Iowa. I sure do miss the Midwest. Good luck in you new endeavor.

Thank you Robert! I'm learning a lot here. Rather than start new threads – I am going to try to search out subjects with topics I am interested in. I may revive a bunch of old threads - I hope that's ok.
