Att: Justin and Jim: Now is not the time and this is not the place to carry on this type of dispute. Now is the time to band together for the common good. If you do not know , what the common good is...then I can not explain. If you do know what the common good is..welcome aboard the winning team. That team is TEAM USA.

Bob, Well Put. I am glad to see that you and your family are all OK and doing well in this time of tragedy. I agree we all need to pull togeher as one. That includes our fellow americans that are of Muslim, and Islamic beliefs and of Arabic decent.

Jim Z: Do a Google search for "Rex-84 Alpha". That's how I came up with the story I linked to. The movie version of The X-Files contains a similar reference.

Bob, I'm sorry. I got caught up in trying to prove Charles wrong, who in my opinion spits in the faces of the victims with his every post. You are right, though, this is not the time or the place.

Charles, email me, we'll continue this there.

I think we need to step back abit and look at who is who in the World the U.S.A has its beginings as a place of refuge a place for GOD fearing people brought to this promise Land to live in freedom and peace , apart from the World that was at that time oppressive and without religious freedom ,some of the first to be lead there were from the Tower of Babel then tribes of Israel , whom the Indians are decendants of to the ones whom came from Europe and the British Isles lead by one Columbus , this Land is a Land of Freedom and Hope for the whole world and anything or anyone that attacks this Nation attacks the World Freedom as a whole ,When freedom of choice is attacked and Democracy threatened I will hope that this Nation will always be ready to assist , as we feel very easy pickings down here without the might of the US behind us as other poorer Nations eye our great living conditions and resources , I can also understand how others view the activities of the US armed forces in other countries and yes there have been mistakes and some very embarrassing but there is nothing Evil nor Wicked in the things they have tried to do.

I agree with Bob. I am getting mighty tired of hearing any word that ends in "ism" anyway. "Patriotism" excepted, of course.

A few thoughts from the north that lost so far about 800 people who were employed at the WTC
Bloodshed begads bloodshed and retaliation retaliation
A mass retalitory strike against civilians only ensures other terrorist acts.
The rules of War changed at the bginning of WW2
Germany did not recognize the Geneva Convention and the Blitz on London was not aimed at any military target just civilians. In retaliation the fire bombing on Dresden was the same Germany was tried for an attack on civilians the winner the allies were not. The end of the pacific conflict was the destruction of two of Japans largest cities with far more civilian casualities than military. The end justified the means. But to many they justifiy there means as well and in these times they regretably feel forced to follow that route.
For all the good the Free world has tried to do in the world it has wronged many others who now feel disinfranchised.
A unilateral strike that hurts those outside the core group will quickly feel the revulsion of the rest of the civilised world. Currently in the Hague the War Crimes court is trying a leader for carrying out acts of inhumanity and war against inocent civilians and the worlds largest and most powerfull country is not party to it on the fear that it actions may be held acountable some day to a international body.
When hit the desire for vengance is high but calmer heads must pervail or more violence awaits
In the history on humanity more people have died or been killed for or from religion than anything else.
As for suspending the constitution the US did in effect suspend many cival liberties during the AntiCommunist witch hunts that scarred the lives of many inocent americans. In Canada I grew up with the war measures act being declared during the FLQ crisis in quebec.
A Parlimentary governments freedoms are far harder to suspend than a republics freedoms and yet here people could be jailed and held indefinetly with out trial during that period which was a black period in the history of Canadain jurisprudence.
Not to condone but to pray for calm and insight

"My father (now deceased) was in WWII. My ex-brother-in-law was in Vietnam."

You're living on others glory. What does their glory have to do with you? In a few years when you move out on your own and get out of college and figure out the real world and develope your own opinions (instead of those radical left wing wacko's you keep parroting)it will be interesting to see what your attititudes are like. Right now however all you can seem to do is try to condem and belittle everything the government does. It's real easy to be a critic isn't it.

"Greg, you ought to be ashamed of yourself. I dont suppport the actions of these terrorists either, but calling for the annhialation of millions of other arabs is not only a stupid idea because it would accomplish nothing, but shows you to be a racist which in my opinion makes you unrespectable."

Jim Boy
It would accomplish the removal of the threat to the US and it's way of life. They can't kill us if we kill them first. Get it? We are at war bucko, it's not PC as much as you wish it was. The last man standing wins. You think they're going to stop now? This is just the first attack, wake up. This race of people who blindly hates us and they are teaching and training their children to do the same. This is going to go on and on and on. It will get worse and worse and worse. Airplanes into buildings, HA!. Wait till the suitcase nukes start going off and the germ/biological warfare starts killing not just a few thousands, but a few millions. Call me a racist? Maybe so. What I know is that there is a middle east race that wants to kill my race (isn't that racist?) Will I let them? Hell no. What we have to do now is be better at the game than they are or they will win.
As far as your "respect" goes....

Nuke 'em till they glow, shoot 'em in the dark.

Wow. Greg, I seriously hope you don't actually believe in what you're saying. That's no better than the terrorists themselves.

*sigh*
Bob and others here do not want to see this discussion. It is also clear taking over email isn't going to work. I suggest then to serve everyone better to move this discussion to a different thread. My next reply will be in the thread, "The Coming War." Thats a more appropriate thread anyway.

Exactly. We will not remain the most powerful nation on the planet and enjoy all the liberties that we do if we allow them to kill us. We must win to stay alive. The major difference between us and them is that the US did not go over and run one of their jet planes into their World Trade Center, thereby committing and act of war. They started it. We will not win by being all "touchy feely" or "PC" and "feeling their pain" and all that "civilized" crap. We must be better fighters than they are. We must employ whatever means necessary to be victorious, whatever that requires. And while I'm at it, it has been repeatedly claimed that women and children are "innocents" and we should do nothing to hurt them while we are stomping our feet and telling the men to "stop it". As far as I know, none of the wives, girl friends or daughters called up and said "My husband (boy friend, father etc)is going to kill thousands of people in the near future. Better stop him" Women can pull triggers, light fuses and start timers. What happen to y'alls PC stand that women are equal to men? Or is that (again) only US women.
We now have a group that has the greatest bragging rights in Arab land. We will in the immediate future, see other groups trying to "out terrorize" them and be top dog on that pile. All you that think that this is a one shot deal and it's all over are only fooling yourselves.

In the days that followed 911, the news had several stories concerning the Arabs celebrating the death of thousands of Americans. They were dancing in the streets. There were men, women and children involved. Much to my amazement I learned that there were several restaurants in the Seattle area that were having celebrations of the same kind.
You can lay down and die or standup and fight. It's up to you.

I just got this via e-mail.........
Mark @ GTS

It's my job to have something to say
By Leonard Pitts Jr.
Tribune Media Services

They pay me to tease shades of meaning from social and culturalissues, to provide words that help make sense of that which troubles the American soul. But in this moment of airless shock when hot tears sting disbelieving eyes, the only thing I can find to say, the only words that seem to fit, must be addressed to the unknown author of this suffering.

You monster. You beast. You unspeakable bastard.

What lesson did you hope to teach us by your coward's attack on our
World Trade Center, our Pentagon, us? What was it you hoped we would
learn?

Whatever it was, please know that you failed. Did you want us to respect your cause? You just damned your cause.

Did you want to make us fear? You just steeled our resolve. Did you want to tear us apart? You just brought us together.

Let me tell you about my people. We are a vast and quarrelsome family, a family rent by racial, cultural, political and class division, but a family nonetheless. We're frivolous, yes, capable of expending tremendous emotional energy on pop cultural minutiae a singer's revealing dress, a ball team's misfortune, a cartoon mouse.

We're wealthy, too, spoiled by the ready availability of trinkets and
material goods, and maybe because of that, we walk through life with a certain sense of blithe entitlement. We are fundamentally decent,
though-peace-loving and compassionate. We struggle to know the right
thing and to do it. And we are, the overwhelming majority of us, people of faith, believers in a just and loving God.

Some of you, perhaps, think that any or all of this makes us weak.
You're mistaken. We are not weak. Indeed, we are strong in ways that
cannot be measured by arsenals.

Yes, we're in pain now. We are in mourning and we are in shock. We're
still grappling with the unreality of the awful thing you did, still
working to make ourselves understand that this isn't a special effect
from some Hollywood blockbuster, isn't the plot development from a Tom Clancy novel. Both in terms of the awful scope of its ambition and the probable final death toll, your attacks are likely to go down as the worst acts of terrorism in the history of the United States and indeed, the history of the world. You've bloodied us as we have never been before. But there's a gulf of difference between making us bloody and making us fall. This is the lesson Japan was taught to its bitter sorrow the last time anyone hit us this hard, the last time anyone brought us such abrupt and monumental pain. When roused, we are righteous in our outrage, terrible in our force. When provoked by this level of barbarism, we will bear any suffering, pay any cost, go to any length, in the pursuit of justice. I tell you this without fear of contradiction. I know my people, as you, I think, do not. What I know =reassures me. It also causes me to tremble with dread of the future.

In days to come, there will be recrimination and accusation, fingers
pointing to determine whose failure allowed this to happen and what can be done to prevent it from happening again. There will be heightened security, misguided talk of revoking basic freedoms. We'll go forward from this moment sobered, chastened, sad. But determined, too.
Unimaginably determined. You see, there is steel beneath this velvet.
That aspect of our character is seldom understood by people who don't
know us well. On this day, the family's bickering is put on hold. As
Americans we will weep, as Americans we will mourn, and as Americans, we will rise in defense of all that we cherish.

Still, I keep wondering what it was you hoped to teach us. It occurs me that maybe you just wanted us to know the depths of your hatred. If
that's the case, consider the message received. And take this message in exchange: You don't know my people. You don't know what we're about. You don't know what you just started.

But you're about to learn.

I was watching --I believe it was FOX News--and they had a guest who was retired Secret Service or CIA or something of that nature.

He said that he was appalled at the prayer gathering which Pres. Bush attended in Washington. Says that that Muslim who offered prayer has been a leader of Muslim protests in Washington--"US is owned by Jews--death to Jews/Israel/USA!"
