It depends on how you define 'us'. If you mean the USA pure and simple, then maybe not. But the IRA have been attacking a country which is supposedly one of the USA's key international allies for a long time now whilst the US (depending on the administration) have either been ignoring it or facilitating support via Noraid.

To make things worse, our government, as part of a so-called 'peace process', has released hundreds of convicted terrorist murderers from jail, many of whom have subsequently re-offended, whilst the IRA have yet to hand over a single rusty old shotgun. I find it hard to believe how the US has supported Israel's moves to protect its citizens from Palestinian terrorists, but has done precisely the opposite in relation to Britain and the IRA.

Like Hamas in Israel and Bin Laden in New York, the IRA has attacked anyone and everyone who belives in the rule of law, even if American citizens have not directly been on the receiving end of their bombs or bullets. The lack of support Britain has received from the US government over this, especially given Britain's support for the US over the Gulf War and Israel (which, as a result, has made us far more likely to be targeted by Bin Laden and his cronies than many other European countries) is a particularly sore issue to me - a close friend of mine was seriously injured by an IRA bomb.

Bush knew there was going to be an attack on the USA . . . and did nothing!

How much longer before this moron faces articles of impeachment?

Oddly enough, I was not trying to argue Bush or Gore at the time I made the statement. It was just something I felt.

And Bob, have we won this war? Better question, can we win this war?

I myself just feel that we are currently fighting an idea, one that no knife, bullet or bomb can kill. As long as there are Americans that think like Mc Veigh, no amount of dead foreign terrorists will set to rest the idea of terrorism, or the lasting fear that it instills in all of us.

Do you think, Bob, that our World can exist without war? We look back at medevil times and think how barbaric they were. Will my children's, children's, children look at us with the same disgust?

Maybe I am playing "hippie's" advocate here, but in my heart of hearts, I would like to see an end to bloodshed.
