LG just finished the conversion of the nine-year-old Fremont Street Experience here from halogen to LED display.

The canopy runs east from Main Street down to 4th Street, about 1,500'. Some of the new vs. old stats:
Display--12.5 million LEDs vs. 1.9 million lamps Pixel count--4,168,704 vs. 477,664 pixels Pixel pitch--6.5" vs. 2.0" Resolution--7,552 x 552 vs. 2596 x 154 Power usage--2,200,000 vs. 7,833,000 Watts at full intensity Lamp life--50,000 vs. 5,000 hours

LEDs have advantages over tungsten lamps in more areas than just sound readers.
