I met Glenn Beck, too. Here in the Roxy projection booth, just across the hall from my apartment, after the rehearsal for his "On Ice" show. The Roxy was the debut venue and I got to run a spot light! I've been kicking myself ever since, though, for not getting a picture with him in the booth!  |  IP: Logged Mark J. This meeting with him today was the nicest "meet" with him so far. He kicked off his book signing tour today with a one hour visit to a book store in West Chester, PA. After the mad rush was over, he hung out for the rest of the hour taking pictures, chatting, signing autographs and what not. If you met him, you'll probably agree that he's a class act, and a really nice guy, not to mention funny. During the mad rush, everyone was taking quick, less personal photos with him. While he was getting his show worked out, he actually took time out of the hectic schedule (his opening night!) and stopped to chat with me. I started out totally in "fan" mode... because my brother and I both had been listening to Glenn since back when he was on just a handful of stations. We soon got into some technical discussion about broadcasting equipment and top-of-the-hour breaks. One thing I noticed immediately was he really listened to me. It was very much a two-way conversation. I actually had to end it because I knew he was needed elsewhere. But he was so gracious that he would've stayed right there chatting with me if I'd kept it going. I was very impressed with him. After the show that night, he met everyone in the lobby as they were leaving and talked with anyone who wanted to chat. He did not leave until everyone who wanted autographs and photos, had them. He was the last one out. He was shaking Glenn's hand, and pulled it up closer to his chest to get closer to Glenn and started off by saying something like "My wife has cancer..." and went on about something that I couldn't make out because he was speaking softly. Glenn looked the guy right in the eye with the most caring sincere look I've ever seen. Glenn put his other hand on the guys hand as well, and stood there listening very intently and talking with the guy, with no intention of leaving or blowing him off in any way. Glenn's handlers had to convince the guy to let go and move on eventually, but Glenn looked like he would have stood there all day talking to the guy. That kind of commitment has to take its toll on you eventually. I'm glad to see the kind of support that his fans give him too. And I'm glad to see him come out and do shows and signings and all the stuff he does with his fans. I'm going to try to make the Insiders convention next year in NYC. As a side note, I also happen to think that he has a greater grasp of "the big picture" of everything that's going on in the world than anyone else who's talking right now.
