Cody, are you are referring to the drive-thru systems where you drive up and the sensor detects your car and the stupid recording says, "Hi, welcome to McDonald's, can I help you?" If you think that is a human being, which is a very easy mistake to make, given the lousy audio quality, and you start giving your order, well, it isn't a person and you will be talking to nothing. Then when the real person comes on, you will have to repeat everything you said all over again.
For my entertainment, when the person comes on and asks for my order, I say, "But I just gave you my order." And she will say something like, "No, I didn't hear that." To which I say, "What, you weren't McListening to me?" "No, that wasn't me." "Yes it was, you just asked me if you could help me and I gave you my order." "No sir, that was a recording." "Why are you making a recording of me? OK then, just play it back and you will hear what I McSaid." "No it wasn't a recording of you, it's part of the system......" Then I drive off while she continues to try to explain. It is so worth busting chops.
quote: Bobby Henderson I'm getting more and more annoyed by certain stupid mistakes in grammar.
Bobby, you think that's bad, we have a mayor - mayor of freakin New York City - who continually says, "If there is anyways you can avoid using the roads, do so" And, "Anyways, schools will be closed tomorrow." You would think one of his idiot aids would side up to him and whisper in his ear, "Mr. Mayor, it's 'anyway.' You leave off the last 's' - that's the 's' for stupid."

I have never experienced this but I don't understand it. If the attendant may not be ready to take an order, why have a recording saying "can I help you?" Why not have the recording say "Please wait, we will be right with you"? This sounds like an idea dreamed up by suits who have no experience working in an actual drive-thru.
