And I have no idea whether the album (In Utero) or the single that Rape Me was on were labeled as such. But I do know that Walmart and Kmart refused to sell the album because they felt customers would be offended by the cover and the song titled "Rape Me." As far as the need for a record store goes... Iv never set foot in one, dont really know why. Guess I just never herd anything that I liked long enough to go buy the CD. I now usually listen to Pandora radio. In the beginning their "commercials" were like every 10 or so songs and they were very short, 15 second spots with just an announcer. Now they are up to 1 per 3 songs -- more than some OTA radio stations -- and they are full commercials with obnoxious jingles and "comedic scenarios" which are as unfunny as they are stupid. Worse, now they have gotten really Nazi about you turning off a song. They used to let you nix a dozen or so songs before they would force you to play the songs thru; now it's something like "YOU VILL LISTEN TO ZE SONG!" After 5 songs, they block the ability to stop the play and go to the next selection. So when their "smart" AI picks a song that I really dislike, I am forced to play it thru, or mute it. I used to be able to get around that by just clicking out of the site and then clicking back in, but now they have gone fascist about that too -- if you come back on, they play the same song from where it stopped. Look, if I tell them I HATE this dumb song their unintelligent artificial intelligence picked, why do they insist I HAVE to listen to it in order to move on to the next song? Do they think maybe I will change my mind by forcing me to play it thru....that somehow in a station that I've created for 60s and 70s classics, I somehow will want to hear jazz or Hip effin Hop? And not for nuthin, but they REALLY need to go back to the drawing board with their AI software. I have clicked on that I don't like some genre of songs but they pop up over and over, no matter how many times I nix them. And in the middle of the summer they were poping up Christmas music -- and worse, Christmas music that wasn't even traditional and which I couldn't have listened to on Christmas Day! Then up pops four songs in a row that were totally out of the styles I have been teaching it that I liked for about a year now and they pick another Hip Hop. And so happened it was past my grace period and I couldn't nix it. That's when I realized this was rubbing me the wrong way in too many directions all at once. Haven't turned it on since; I'm done with them. Oh yah, and not to mention now they want you to buy their PREMIUM crap. I guess the idea was, keep making it more and more annoying so that they will just give up and hand over the 9 bucks. I would gladly spend $6 more to buy it at a locally owned and operated record store if it meant not supporting a place like Walmart. It's more important to me to save someone's livelihood than it is to save a couple dollars. Too bad there aren't about 50 million more like you out there. It's also very possible that the Wal Mart version is less-nicely packaged. I've seen that a few times. What's goofy about Wal Mart is they won't sell CDs that are "parental advisory" stickered, but they have no problem with R-rated movies which are probably far more "dangerous" to the kids than the occasional f-bomb on a barely-intelligible rap CD.
