Well, as someone speculated previously, perhaps due to a 20-year lease. They're certainly keeping it open only on the cheap, and it's certainly convenient enough as a neighborhood theater in the dense Sherman Oaks area. The digital screens are getting new content weekly, but rarely opening week, which is usually whatever tanked nationally at the box office the week before (e.g., this week it's "Rules Don't Apply," which last weekend was 2016's worst opening). Meanwhile, the 35mm screens are 4.5-6 months without new film, and the prints probably look awful.
