My wife and I were in Disney World last week and we saw 2 flicks at the Pleasure Island 24 in our spare time. The way that place is laid out just INVITES movie-hopping.
The ticket taker is directly inside the building, nowhere near the auditoriums. There is zero policing of any kind as to who goes where, in fact you can buy your ticket for X movie two hours ahead and go right in, and see another movie before you see your scheduled one.
We were seeing Day After Tomorrow at 4:30. We bought out tickets at the auto-kiosk at about 2:30, and went inside around 3:00 because it was blazing hot outside and we just wanted to get in and siddown. We wandered throughout the whole place, including into various auditoriums, with nobody ever asking to see a ticket stub. Could have stayed to see a few more movies afterwards, I suppose, but we were tired and went back to the hotel.
I know this has nothing to do with "customers," but people will save a buck here or there when they can. Any teenager who can buy one ticket and see three movies will jump at the chance, eh?

Mike -- The next time you're in FL and don't visit, I will hunt you down!
That Pleasure Island theater was originally a 10 at one point, or so I heard. When you enter the building on the Planet Hollywood side (yes, for those of you in CA, we still have Planet Hollywoods in FL -- it's the newest craze) you'll be in the old section. The hallways went off to the right and left.
These theaters, 15-19 and 20-24 are the old ones. Most of these aren't stadium and the largest ones are half-stadium, including the DLP house.
Then they built on 14 more auditoriums to the back of the building, with a hallway leading to them on the 15-19 side. So what you have is 1-19 on the right, and 20-24 on the left.
Once you walk down the hallway leading to the new section, it's like you've vanished into the Airport of Multiplexes. Auditoriums all over the place at random intervals, wiiiiiide hallways, and NO STAFF ANYWHERE! If there was ever a problem, and you were in #12 somewhere in the back and off to the side in the corner, you'd have quite a trek to find someone.
See? Photo taken on a Friday night! No one is ever at that happy little service desk they installed.

Customer comes out of "Red Dragon" after it's finished. He informs me that he had already seen that movie with different actors years ago ("Manhunter"), and wants his money back. I let him know that I can not give him a refund for a movie he watched. He proceeds to call me a racist, and states that I won't give him a refund because he is Mexican. I look bewildered, and again tell him that I can not issue a refund since he watched the movie. At this point I tell him to have a nice day, and walk away. Just then, another theater let's out, and as the people are filing out, he starts screaming that this place is racist and yelling that that we hate Mexicans. I turn back around and inform him that if he does not stop his behavior and leave the property, I will call the police and have him arrested and that I will sue him for defamation of character. He shut up and left.
An older gentleman is stopped by the ticket taker at the auditorium door, as he was trying to bypass a line of people entering the theater. He didn't have a ticket, and said that his wife was inside with it. Noone had left a ticket or told the usher that they had a ticket for someone that wasn't there yet, so the usher informed him that he would have to wait until the line went in and we could verify he had a ticket inside. He starts yelling at the usher that it is ridiculous that he had to wait, getting very loud and very verbally abusive. I was behind concessions, and stepped over to the end of the counter to ask him if I could help. The customer, still angry and on the offensive, tells me this punk kid wouldn't let him in even though his wife is inside with his ticket. I told him that his wife would be holding him a seat, and as soon as the line went in we would take him in. I explained that we could not let in anyone without a ticket. He got even madder and asked why we would hold up an old man from entering (he was about 50 or so, and in good shape, mind you). He then asked why he would be lying when he had $500 in his pocket, and pulled it out to flash it in my face. I informed him that I did not care how much money he had, if he didn't have his ticket he was going to have to wait to enter. He realized he wasn't getting anywhere, and by this time the line had finished anyway. The usher took him in and tore the ticket his wife was holding for him, and everything was fine for the rest of the screening.
