I like it when customers stand up on the top row of seats and rap on the glass until they see someone. I never open up the glass for them, I just give them a "look".

Are they just being jerks are they attempting to complain about a presentation/patron problem?

I've actually had that happen and all they were doing is trying to complain that the movie hadn't started yet. After looking at my watch, it actually started about 30 seconds early. I'm assuming that they were going by their watch and it must have been set fast or something cause I always start my shows about within right on time give or take 30 seconds according to GMT. Atleast I try to. Hard to do when you have multiple shows starting at the same time on oppsite ends of the building.

Rapping on the glass is just plain rude! Anyone who does this should be make to clean it (both inside and out [Big Grin] ). Besides, rap music is the route to all evil!

I was trying to put something back together in time for a show and some %$#@head BANGED on the glass.. not tapped.. BANGED and startled me so much as to drop the bolt I was trying to thread down inside the shutter housing. I opened the window and he asked how long it would be until the movie actually started. I told him even longer since he made me drop a part.

One theatre I worked at had the port glass panes "affixed" magnetically. Some worked better than others, on some, if a customer knocked on the port glass, it would knock the glass on to the projector. That was annoying. It wasn't just customers, sometimes a change in pressure caused one or two to drop back. [Frown] Of course, management didn't think it was a problem. I worked there for 2½ years, and I think two panes of glass got broken.

I had that happen where the pressure pushed the glass out and it busted when it hit the floor. until we got it fixed we had to place cardboard with a slot to look out cut in it. I'm glad our windows are too high up for costumers to mess with or look through.

Tonight I seriously had a customer ask me this. He stopped me as I was going from the concession stand to the box office.

"Where is your regular butter topping" (He was standing in front of the self butter station) I figured maybe the BIB was empty so I open the cabinet to change it and he stops me again

"No there is butter, but the dispenser says Hot Buttery Topping. My wife can't handle a lot of spicy stuff" [Roll Eyes]

um no wouldn't be doing that.

Also had the other night the usual customer complaining about our prices. He spent 33.75 at the concession stand on him and his wife and complained he could go out to dinner with his wife for that price. BTW he was with his wife and they bought 4 hot dogs, 2 small popcorns, 2 small sodas, a nachos and extra cheese, and some raisinets. Even though we are all about making money at our concession we still try to give people the better deal. I tried to tell him it would be cheaper to get a combo (2 drinks 1 corn) since we offer free refills on all sizes there would be no need for 2 separate corns.

Yeah, it sounds like they are ordering way more than what they need, I wouldn't be able to eat that many hot dogs, nachos, or popcorn, even if i were sharing it with someone. but i do see people come out for free refills for their large popcorns before the movie starts. which scares me into thinking they may have spilt it.

The lot of ya - all 23 pages of ya - all seriously need a visit to www.customerssuck.com

Found a good one from the site

quote:

Every theater in America does it!

One day I was working both Box Office and Guest Services. When I was at box office, this one couple came up and proceeded to order their tickets. I continued to ask "Do you have any active duty military or student IDs" (We have Active Military & Student discounts at our theatre).

The man said "Yes two militaries". I assumed that his wife/girlfriend/friend/sister/fiancée whoever had an active military too. He showed me his active ID and I asked for the woman's ID. She said she didn't have it but she was military. I told her that we have to see both IDs to get both discounts. She said that her ID was in the car, and she could go run and get it. Before she took off, I asked her if it was a dependent ID. She said yes.

I told her it was only for active military. The man then said "well we got both discounts before with her dependent ID" (FYI: that is the universal comeback of almost every customer when we deny them of something...they did it before). I assured him that even if they did so before, maybe the came around matinee time, and thought they got the discount. The reassured me back that they came around the same time that it was now.

I again told him that I couldn't do anything and showed him the sign that said "Active Military (With ID) $6.50". He then said "Well I will just buy one ticket then." I heard his girlfriend mumble something, then he looked at her and whispered "I will just go to another window and buy another ticket with my ID". Well they way the box office is set up, we talk to customers through a headset, and it picks up "EVERYTHING" you say. I don't know why people think we can't hear them.

So after he said that, I just smiled to myself, and sold him his one ticket. Then I looked over to my left to inform all the box office cashiers that the guy that just left my line already got his military discount, and don't give him another one. I watched him go to another window, and get denied! He looked at me, and gave me this, "Oh no you didn't" look.

The couple game inside and came over to guest service. I walked to the guest service desk (which is a few inches away, since it's connected to box office) and stood beside the manager that was there. The couple came in fussing about how they want both military discounts and why the dependent can't get a discount too. It's the same story with everybody else who complains. We don't make the rules, the movie companies sets these rules. They asked for a refund, and his lady friend then said "Well every movie theatre in America accepts both military IDs, and this is the only one that doesn't". I almost burst into laughter when she said this. Has she been to every movie theatre in America? They asked for a complaint form, in which we didn't have one. They complained about that too. So the manager just gave them a business card, with his name on it.

They then made some more unimportant comments, and then left. I guess there were on their "every theatre in America" road trip. The manager and I just looked at Each other and laughed. The thing about it is, most theatres don't even have a military discount rate. I just wish people could hear that comes out of their mouths.
