Author Topic: rant on stupid customers William Clark Film Handler Posts: 19 From: Mililani, HI, United States Registered: Aug 2006 posted 08-27-2006 12:45 AM                     Working floor one afternoon last winter, I had the following conversation with a customer: Cust: "What time does the 7:15 Pride and Prejudice start seating?" I check the showtimes and ending times of the previous set, and without regarding what time it is, inform him that the 7:15 show began seating at 5:50 (note: it was 6:30 at the time). Cust: "Well, the previous show isn't out yet." Me (suddenly noting time): "It was scheduled to end 40 minutes ago." Cust: "But there's something on the screen and there are people in there." I went and investigated the situation in the auditorium. "Why don't you take credit card?" "Why don't you have new movies?" or "Why are you movies old?" Then, there are those who can't believe it's so cheap: "Is this a real movie theatre?" (I'm always tempted to say no, it's just a room with a tv and vcr). The man was in his final days and didn't want to be around so many people in case something happened. Definitely not the type I was used to working with, by ANY stretch of the imagination. He actually offered me the District Mgr's position prior to my departure as well, but the damage was done. I'd had enough and it was time to move on. I can only hope that the company, in it's infinite wisdom, begins to LISTEN and LEARN from those that have a modecum of common sense, because, as you know, there isn't an over abundance of it in many of the districts... or in Columbus, for that fact..  |  IP: Logged Caleb Johnstone-Cowan Jedi Master Film Handler Posts: 593 From: London, UK Registered: Mar 2006 posted 08-28-2006 11:28 PM                     We got one guy who went seven storeys down the fire exit expecting a toilet, then got the mall security to let him back in to have a go. When did the green fire exit sign ever mean 'toilet here'? The other thing that bugged me was the people who went to see 'The Aristocrats' expecting something other than the 'Unspeakable Obscenity' the tagline promised. One person said it was boring because of all the talking. The students who had the wrong ID card were always annoying as well. Especially the foreign ones who technically are tourists as opposed to students. Her friend rushed down to the foyer and informed the floor staff, who called an Ambulance. Our cinema is about 2km from Perth's main teaching hospital, so the Ambo's got here in about 2 minutes after the phone call. The floor staff had let me know what was going on, so as soon as the Ambo's arrived I shut down the film and brought up the house lights. It took them about 10 minutes to get the old dear organised, on the trolley and out of the Cinema. In that 10 minutes 2 sets of people came out to the foyer and complained that they were missing the film; to be told that the film was shut off until the sick woman was taken away, and that they would only miss about 8 seconds of the film due to shut down and re-start. One set asked for and were given a refund, (I think the manager just wanted to get rid of them). After the film finished,(about 15 minutes late), we had another person complain to the manager about interupting the screening,"just because someone wasn't feeling well". In the 21 years I've been a Projectionist I've had 1 person die and 6 others become seriously ill during screenings and had to stop sessions for medical attention to reach them. This is the first time someone has complained about it, and it wasn't just one person!  |  IP: Logged Andrew Peter Chobaniuk Film Handler Posts: 28 From: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Registered: Jul 2006 posted 09-12-2006 06:23 AM                     grrr the other day a woman comes to the box office and complains that pirates has already started when she arrived. she arrived 10 mins after our advertised showtime with disney films theres no ads and since the movies been out awhile there isnt that many trailers left on the print what i couldnt understand was why in the hell would she come out of the theatre and bitch at our staff for 10 minutes and miss even more of the movie THERES SHOWTIMES FOR A REASON fyi: Empire Theatres usually have an average of 10 mins ads and trailers before a feature the other national chain has sometimes around 20 mins  |  IP: Logged Patrick Dunn Expert Film Handler Posts: 120 From: newark, DE, United states Registered: Aug 2005 posted 09-24-2006 07:19 PM                        Well since where I work is a small independent theater, we have tickets that just say Cinema Center, the price, and the numbers 1 2 or 3 so we can keep track of what movies people go to see. Today i was standing next to the girl working box office when this woman comes in to buy tickets for the black dahlia. Than she starts yelling at us because the ticket didn't show the movie name or show time and she was afraid that we weren't going to know what movie or show time she was here for like we are stupid and don't know what we're doing. I hate that! Some lady I removed from the Grudge 2 said I was targeting her because she was black. It had nothing to do with the screaming infant she had in her lap during the horror movie. That she didnt have a problem with. She complained that a song on Movie Tunes mentioned underwear, and as such was not appropriate. The song is Weird Al Yankovic's "White & Nerdy". The lyric is as follows: quote: Spend every weekend at the Renaissance Faire Got my name on my underwear The above offended her more than an entire song filled with racial stereotypes.
