I had a lady chastise me on Friday because our showtimes for the I Hate Obama movie weren't in the previous day's television section of the newspaper. Since our local paper only publishes once a week, I knew she was talking about a county-wide paper we do not advertise in. I tried in vain to explain to her that we do not advertise with that paper, and they only update our showtimes once a week, on Friday, through a third-party source, but she wouldn't have any of that.

Her: "How are we supposed to know if the film is playing here? This is an important movie that every American needs to see!"
Me: "How did you find out we were playing it?"
Her: "I had to call the theatre."
Me: "Okay then."

An hour later, we got in an email from an angry customer who hoped "we go bankrupt and add to our hero's already failing economic policy" because we dared to only show the movie he wanted to see only once, at midnight. He, his wife and another couple apparently have been coming to our theatre every week since we opened four years ago, but apparently has zero understanding of how 12:01am Premiere Shows work.

Wait, wait....are you saying you were showing the Obama movie at midnight and people were actually seeing it then?!

We do 12:01am shows every Thursday night/Friday morning. Since we were already doing shows for The Apparition and Premium Rush, we ran one for 2016 as well.

No one showed up for that show, but that's beside the point.

It is the number one movie in Montgomery by about 2-to-1. Not Tyler Perry business, but kicking everything in it's path, including the previous week's #1, Sparkle. I wonder how many people are going to it thinking it is a pro-Obama film.

DEAR SILENT: I understand that baby sitters are expensive and not always reliable -- and that parents want to see the latest films, too. However, when a baby starts to fuss, the infant should be taken out of the theater to be fed, changed and/or calmed. To do otherwise is unfair to those who have also spent hard-earned money to enjoy a film without distraction.

P.S. DVDs are just what the doctor ordered for new parents -- not only can they be paused, but they are cheaper, too.

A couple of weeks ago, a letter to the editor was published in the local newspaper and the writer was upset because "influential Liberals" in the area where preventing the Obama Movie from coming to town and our company was bowing to the pressure from those "groups" who did not want the movie here. The problem? We opened the movie that very day the letter was published.

To their credit, the newspaper did print somewhat of a retraction in the Sunday edition.

Just had a couple of old Biddy's, (Ladies in their 60's), come out of Monsieur Lazhar and complain about it being to hot in the cinema. Checked the thermostat to find that it's 22.3 Celsius (72 Fahrenheit for North America)upstairs at the back of the auditorium and 19.2C (66.56F) at the front. Go back out to the foyer and run into another little old lady waiting to complain... that it was too cold in Monsieur Lazhar.

We had a lady with several kids, one was 1 yr old, so no ticket purchase for that kid. She still wanted a pair of (kid size) 3-D glasses for him. I told her we don't give the glasses to 1 year olds, because the kid won't wear them and we needed to have enough for the other older kids. She was upset. I don't believe a 1-year-old can tell the difference, or will care, between 2-D and 3-D. The flashing bright colors will be all the entertainment he needs. Was I wrong?

I wouldn't give glasses to anybody, kid or adult, who didn't pay for a ticket or present a valid pass to get in.

We give glasses to any head that comes through, but if I had my own theater, I'd at least think twice......
