This customer had brass balls:
At the Tom Ridge Center, I only run a movie if I have sold a ticket.
It was ten minutes after 3:00 when a guy comes out to the front desk, says he's been waiting for the show to start and asks why the movie was late. Thinking I had goofed, I quickly checked my terminal to see if I missed the show. Nope. Sensible Cinema said, "zero."
"I'm sorry, sir, but I haven't sold any tickets to that show."
"Well, when are you going to start it?"
"I don't run a movie when there aren't any customers."
Just to be safe, I asked, "Do you have a ticket?
"No."
Being only ten minutes late, I could start the show and still be just on time for the next show time. The movie was only 47 minutes long. The next movie would start at 4:00.
"Would you like to buy a ticket?"
This is where it gets good... The guy says, "Well, I watched the last movie."
I'm the only person running the theater. I do everything. Tickets, popcorn, usher, projection and cleanup. I can't be everywhere at once. I occasionally do get people who come in while I'm threading up or doing chores, etc. The other people working at the guest services desk will often let people into the show while I'm not there and tell them to pay when they come out. 99% of them do pay as they exit.
I'm not going to pitch a fit over one stinking person seeing a movie without a ticket. Yes, it's important for me to keep my books straight but I can't be everywhere at once. If the company wants 100% compliance, 100% of the time, they'll just have to hire another person to help me. Won't they?
Now, in order to get into the theater, the guy had to walk by the front desk, past the register which is visible in plain sight, walk around the 24" X 36" sign listing ticket prices which says, "Buy tickets here," then walk around the Tensa-Barrier with the placard that says, "Present your tickets here," before walking into the theater.
That guy must have brass balls to complain about the show being late!
He said to me, "If somebody else bought a ticket, then I would get to watch the movie?"
Technically, I could have called the cops.
The Tom Ridge Center is part of a state park, operated by the PA Department of Natural Resources. All the cops are park rangers. A bunch of Barney Pfeiffs only with police powers equal to the State Police (within park territory) and these guys get to have more than one bullet in their guns.
It would have been fun. Business was slow. I can only sweep the floors and take out the trash so many times. I could have used some entertainment.
No, I really wouldn't call the cops but who the fuck does this guy think he is?
I just politely said, "I'm sorry," then quietly walked down the back hallway, up to the booth to continue my chores.
Some people!...

I walked down the hallway outside theatres earlier this week and found a charger plugged into a wall outlet, and a wire running under the door into the auditorium. I suspected pirates, so I unplugged it and gently pulled on the wire.
Like hooking a fish in the river, this girl comes out the door hanging on to the cellphone. She is pissed. I tell her that we dont supply power for her to charge her phones during the movies. I handed her the charger, and she went into the auditorium.
A few minutes later, I came back by. It was back, plugged in, and the wire was under the door again.
Again, I unplugged it, and pulled on the wire. This time, it came out without a girl attached.. plug and all.
I took it to the box office. Nobody came to claim it.
I saw the girl leave, too.
It's just a regular charger with additional wire spliced into the cord to make it longer.
I should have thrown her out the first time.
