(formerly Sony, formerly USA Cinemas, formerly Sack Cinemas) finally bit the big one within the last two weeks. It was always a dump and the closure had been rumored for years. The last time I was there (~four years ago?), the auditorium where I was seated had the center channel speaker wired out of phase from everything else. It was painful to listen to. The time before that (~1996?), every trailer before the feature was spliced out of frame. Every one! Good riddence. Admittedly, it was kind of a funky building, though. There's a story about how a former manager was escorted out of the building in handcuffs by the police for embezzeling funds (or something like that...I don't know the details).  |  IP: Logged Marcial Feliciano Ramos Expert Film Handler Posts: 108 From: Puerto Rico Registered: Oct 2003 posted 01-22-2004 12:23 AM                     Here in Puerto Rico, Caribbean Cinemas, the largest chain in PR and the caribbean, close its Humacao Cinemas (very old movie theater and very mess up) to open close by a 12-plex stadium seating with its own shopping mall; opening in holy week.  |  IP: Logged Richard Fowler Film God Posts: 2392 From: Ft. In April will open a cinema&cafe in Old San Juan and will be the competition for the Fine Arts because the owner is the one that distribute the films to Caribbean Cinemas.  |  IP: Logged Richard Fowler Film God Posts: 2392 From: Ft. It might be worth mentioning it was one of the first theaters in the Dallas area to install SDDS (and was the first place I'd seen a show in SDDS, "Delores Claiborne"). We are no longer involved with them after 23 years.
