Lauderdale, FL, USA Registered: Jun 2001 posted 02-02-2004 02:23 PM                     Marcial, I know the Roosevelt which recently bought new equipment but they can not find someone to install at their price target....they are the only true independent on the island. Posts: 1852 From: Dallas, TX Registered: Jan 2002 posted 02-03-2004 10:49 PM                     Signature Theatres entered the San Diego county market last Friday with the grand opening of its new Escondido Stadium 16. Although the parking in front of the theatre is a bit limmited, and may become crowded on weekends, there are a lot of spaces available to the right of the theatre, in the attached strip mall. Once inside, guest are greated in a huge gold & blue lobby with red neons. Signature features specialty concessions (ice cream by the scoop, REAL Nachos with guacamole & sour cream, and pizza) In adition to popcorn and soda. The lobby branches into two seperate identical hallways. The hallways are a bit narrow, and will probably get crowded on weekends. They have 2 large, 6 nicely sized, and 8 very small auditoriums. The red curtain wall covering is the same in all auditoriums. All theatres use Dolby Digital and JBL speakers and sound excellent. I viewed The Perfect Score in theatre 4 tonight. Unfortunately, it was started way out of frame, and I had to ask to get it corrected. The print was also in poor condition, particularly about 2/3rds throgh. hopefully, with time, the projection will improve. I'm also willing to bet that the print was second hand. There's no way it could get that bad with only 2 days play. They will put the new equipment and will have two screens. I want to see that! Its lineup is impressive: everything from Monster, 21 Grams and In America to You Got Served and Barbershop 2. I haven't been there yet, but I'm excited. Oh, and I'm new here, so I'll probably discuss the other theaters later. And despite other chains saying we were put out of business by them, the theatre was actually doing okay. Not great, but we were 18 years old, and there was a brand new 18-screen AMC .5 mile away. Stayed up for a year after AMC opened. Cinemark is putting itself up for sale and has hired investment firms to scout out potential buyers." This can mean a lot of things not just the selling of the company. The press release sort of coverd a broad spectrum of possabilities that this investment firm will be looking at. This has happened before in previous years. Which was located one block West from the Chinese Theatre complex. It might be turned into a gym. And keep an eye on the AMC Beverly Connection 6 another former GCC house.
