I just saw on the news this morning that all the night clubs are closing this evening/morning. I want to know how this is going to effect AMC Pleasure Island 24. This cinema has been home to the ShowEast premiere shows since the trade show came to Central Florida. With this closure and the last ShowEast show in CF this year, what's going to be the impact on this megaplex. (Next year ShowEast moves to MIAMI!!!)

LAKE BUENA VISTA -- The party's over for six nightclubs at Disney's Pleasure Island.
Downtown Disney said Adventurer’s Club, Comedy Warehouse, 8 Traxx, Motion, Mannequins and BET Sound Stage are scheduled to close Saturday.
The nightlife corridor at the Disney complex opened in 1989 and over the years, gathered a loyal following of tourists and locals, especially for its New Year's Eve Every Night celebration.
Disney officials remain hush-hush about the future of Pleasure Island, saying only that an announcement will be made in the "near future."
Downtown Disney’s Web Site states “while details are scant, the redesigned Pleasure Island will be a mix of new dining and shopping venues.”

Cable Car Cinema gets new owners
Daniel Kamil and Emily Steffian, the husband and wife team who formerly ran the Revival House Cinema in Westerly, are buying the Cable Car Cinema in Providence and will officially take over operations later today after the closing. Their first booking, starting Friday, is the documentary Flow, about environmental concerns.
Kamil said he hopes to continue the tradition of “an amazing cultural institution.” The Cable Car, which was opened in 1976 by Albert Bilodeau, is famous for its couch seating, its eclectic mix of cutting-edge films and its café, where filmgoers and non-filmgoers could linger over a light meal.
Kamil said he plans “some updating,” which will include new projection equipment, a fresh coat of paint and new couches, although “we may get rid of half of them.” The couches have been there since the theater opened. “We want to keep it a community theater, a place where people can come, see good films and make an environment where people feel good. We want to try to do some premieres and hope to keep it interesting.”
He added that he and his wife “plan to address the menu and try new things. We hope to get a beer and wine license.” He would not disclose the price he paid for the theater operation.
The Cable Car was founded by Raymond Bilodeau 32 years ago, according to his brother, Albert, who took over the theater from him 23 years ago. Until about a year ago the Cable Car had been managed by Albert’s son, Eric, who became well known in film circles for his booking expertise. Albert praised his son as “a significant aspect of the business for 15 years.”
Albert pointed out that the theater building, a former garage, is owned by RISD Holdings, “part of the investment endowment fund at [the Rhode Island School of Design.] It can’t be used as classroom space. It must be used as an income-producing operation for the [school’s] endowment.”
Kamil added that “We bought the business, the Web site, the tradition.” And that is something he hopes to continue.

SAN BERNARDINO - CinemaStar appears to have reached the end of its run here.
It was not completely clear what might be in store for a sequel for the downtown movie theater. But on Monday morning a moving van was parked outside and a message posted on ticket windows stated the theater was shut down for renovations.
It's possible - if not a near certainty - that a new company will have to come in to bring films back to downtown.
The closure "leads us to believe that there are financial issues on their side," said Don Gee, deputy director of the San Bernardino Economic Development Agency.
The EDA owns the building and land where CinemaStar did business. Gee said Agency officials had recently discussed ways to ease CinemaStar's monthly lease payments of $82,000.
For now, Gee said the burden of finding a new operator for the movie theater rests on CinemaStar, which can assign its lease to another operator.
Gee said that if CinemaStar defaults on its lease, EDA officials can then make a deal with a new theater operator. EDA officials have had some talks of their own but can't move forward as long as CinemaStar retains its lease.

This theatre was originally going to be an AMC, then AMC pulled out of it.
This leaves the city of San Bernardino (Pop 205,000) with only one theatre, the Sterling 6, a small independent theatre on the north side of the city. The closest theatres are in Redlands to the East, Fontana to the west, or the biggies out in Ontario, about 15 miles away.
