A case of positives of this size (8mm x 14") didn't even hit 300 bucks. I wonder how much he wants for it?  |  IP: Logged Stephen Furley Film God Posts: 3059 From: Coulsdon, Croydon, England Registered: May 2002 posted 12-12-2008 05:27 AM                     I do know of a few places, three public cinemas and one home one, which converted from xenon to carbon, though one of those has since closed, and the future for carbon at the other public ones looks far from secure. Carbons are very expensive these days. Some later models incorporated a two lens turret. Actually we had some of those in Cyprus. They handled film quite well, steady machines and used a cylinder barrel type shutter instead of a conical disc type. We can't give those away here in the States where even the teeny outback cinemas are running xenon. Re: The carpert... If it's been bought by a theater owner(read cheapskate!)then its crappy carpeting and he's selling those carbons to cover the cost of said carpeting! That's right, "12 plastic 35mm film cores with film still attached." sigh. I'm of mixed emotions on that one -- it can be a help when you really need a trailer and TES/Deluxe and the studios are out; but surely it fuels the problem that leads to them running out of trailers in the first place.
