It'll flare up like flash paper!!" Err? That's not been my experience with Kodak 2383. My experience is burning a 1-perf piece (cut with a splicer). It is at my room at UCI and when I go in on Weds. I'll try to get the brand and stock. Which makes me wonder if all mylar behaves that way (and your experience would seem to say no) or if it someting unique to that particular stock or maybe even just that trailer. It was a big surprise when it happened though. Back on topic, the seller of that nitrate roll wrote me back saying he wouldn't try to burn any frames. And that the first part of the roll had started to rot. Especially if its started to rot, it sounds quite reasonable to me. (Of course you have to cut a piece and do it far away from anything flammable) It's not really terribly convenient, but I suppose I could shoot a video of 1 perf of nitrate going up side by side with 1 perf of 2383 and 1 perf of acetate. Because I have done it, and even with doing it outdoors and trying to keep a good distance, I still managed to catch some of the fumes generated. And this guy wasn't going to do a PERF, he was talking a few frames. Someone who really doesn't know how hazardous burning nitrate really is has no business trying it out. I DO KNOW how hazardous it is, and there's no way I'll try it again. Its not like you are setting a match to can of gasoline. I was once in a nitrate fire and I remember seeing the film burn up into the upper magazine. It was kind of like flash paper but a little slower and followed the film. It was certainly not an explosion. Someone offered $400 and the knucklehead seller said he couldn't possibly let it go for that little as "this item is so rare and the true value of the item is $5,000+". Dreamflight was a typical dark ride like the Haunted Mansion.
