Paul was like a walking tech-manual!!!! For someone that has been in the industry for so long, with so much knowledge, he was sooo down to earth. He knew what he was talking about, but never acted like he was better than someone less knowledgable (meaning me). He was and still is, a simply KEWL wonderful human being, and I wish that I possessed a faction of his knowledge. But, I'm grateful with what he shared with all of us here on the forum. It hadn't, but their front page story (link) for today must surely contain a lovely epitaph. It is about a couple whose house in Mount Vernon burnt down, and who were thankful to have escaped unhurt. My thoughts go to his family at this sad time.The forum and the industry have lost a great man and a true gentleman. When I finish work today I will have a beer in his Honour. Helpful knowledgeable posts with a historical perspective is the way I would sum it up. I'd also like to say so many of us have people in the industry that looked at us as students rather than nuisances, and probably either actively or passively encouraged us to stay in the industry. I can think of several and one in particular that I stay in touch with. I have attended two funerals of tech/projectionist/friends. A lot of knowledge dies with these people but more importantly, a friend who literally shaped your life. I encourage everyone to keep in touch with these people and be patient with the ones following in your footsteps. Paul has become a tremendous friend to Josh and our entire family. On his multiple visits to spend time with Josh,our family has grown to love Paul as an relative and not just a friend. Our family has grown to love Paul but we also appreciate all of the wonderful friends that Josh has acquired here. I have passed the site location to Paul's brother Roger so he can see the respect and fondness that the industry has for Paul. The funeral will be next Saturday in KauKauna WI but I do not know the name of the church as yet. I thank you all for your friendship, warmth, caring and your passion for the industry that my son loves so much. Here is testament to how close we've become; sharing our experiences and personalities with one another as we do in this forum. It's been said that the Internet is cold and impersonal. I beg to differ. I never had the pleasure of meeting Paul face-to-face, but I felt a kinship to him nonetheless. I related to him because he was both a boothman and broadcast engineer. And a Weenie Man. It was the triple-threat. Paul also had a talent for making me laugh, and I greatly appreciate anyone with a sense of humor. Now, with his picture on the main page in remembrance, I find that he also touched my heart. We love you, Paul, and we'll miss you a lot. I had the chance to meet him when he and Josh took a road trip down here to Texas. In the short time I was able to talk with him, it was like I have known him for years. From all the post he has made on this forum he was exactly what you expect in person, he was nothing more nor nothing less, he stuck by every thing he posted here. There are very few people today that has had such a profound affect on others as he did here on this forum that has transcends to all parts of the would. He will still live on here on Film-Tech.
