I got this email saying I had a private message. So I clicked on the 'link' and got the usual myspace sign-in page. Signed in, and then this other page tried to load with a message asking if I wanted to install Macromedia viewer (which I already have), so that made me suspicious. I clicked "NO" to the install, then the screen went blank except for a small dialog box saying, "you must click YES to continue." So I X'd out of that box, then it returned to the same Macromedia install dialog again. X'd out of that (rather than clicking No) and got the "you must click YES" box again. So I used "task manager" to totally get out of all Explorer windows and that's when McAfee popped up and said a program had tried to install a "suspect" file and I should scan all my files. So I scanned, and it found one "trojan" file. So I'll leave it to you computer dudes to decide what happened -- I just deleted the suspect file and all is well. (So far.) The profiles she views beyond me are in no way my fault, or my responsibility. But I'll still apologize. She doesn't bug me nearly as much as it seems she's been bugging you. You must have something special, Joe! And yes, that was probably a fake sign-in page. I get e-mails about account stuff from "PayPal" and "eBay" and things, and I NEVER log in using the links the e-mails provide. Too easy to counterfit those. I guess MySpace is no different. Brian, I believe she is really a man who wants to be an attention whore. So would you still call a man a whore, is that word considered "unisex" in this context? Who spends that much time looking at everyone's friends and then try to become friends with their friends? And why the hell would I be-friend someone I've never heard of in my life. There's a huge difference when its a band or celebrity or even to network(not the bullshit networking)... but anything else besides that is just kinda like creepy stalker territory. I'm sure she's not a man. She's no crazier than Joe, though. Yes, the term "whore" is applicable to any individual who exhibits whoredom, male or female. In certain circumstances, as well, a man can be a bitch, and a chick can be one of the guys. It's quite simple, really. Half the fun is browsing through random people. Now, I don't happen to add any old person who looks "cool" to be my Friend, but neither do I fault people who do, who "collect" Friends. Everyone needs a hobby. Has anybody checked out, or made the most of, this whole Videos uploading section yet? I only just now got around to upgrading to the latest Flash so I could even see any of them. Two notes yesterday were identical, but from two different profiles -both of which were fakes (no photo, no friends, etc.). The notes said something to the effect of "my friend thinks you're cute, click here to add her as a friend." Screw that. Although I use Firefox rather than the security prone IE, and do most of my web browsing from a guest login with no administrator priviledges, I'm still not clicking a f**king link some retard I don't know is sending me. Basically, they need to say what they need to say right up front without hiding anything or F.O. Most normal people operate by that procedure. There's also the "you remind my friend of her first boyfriend ... he died ... she wants to talk to you but is freaked out" email that I've gotten from a number of random people (and no, the "friend" isn't the same person, so it's a scam of some sort ... not sure what though). == as for adding random people ... I thought that was sort of the point, or at least that's how I've treated myspace. Sure I have friends from the "real world" as my friends there too, but if I really wanted to communicate with them, I'd call or email them, not through myspace.
