Diesel running $2.98 to $3.29. 100LL self-serve $3.43. 100LL full-serve $3.63 to $4.75. Jet A full-serve $4.50 to $5.27. Yeah, the catalytic cracking process does produce all of the major petroleum products as they distill out at different tempertures. But then you have all the different grades and regional blends for gasoline which have to be stored and transported separately. Which costs more. Same goes for jet fuel and avgas. Because of the relatively small amount of avgas demanded, the refiners have been eliminating grades wherever they can. Hence these days it's almost impossible to find 80/87 (red) or 100 octane (green) anymore. The only avgas generally available now is 100LL (blue), and for the kerosene burners, Jet A. People running older engines just have to put up with increased plug fouling and shorter valve life until they can overhaul and install the various retrofit kits. Also, many new engine installations have been STC'd by the FAA to run on auto gas (mogas). Posts: 12814 From: Annapolis, MD Registered: Dec 1999 posted 09-05-2005 03:48 PM                     The psychological aspects aside for filling up ones gas tank...it really is like the stock market...if you think gas is going to go back down as the summer travel comes to an end and as refineries go back on line, then you should hold off on filling up until you used to (for me, 1/4 tank). If you think gas will continue to go up in the next couple of weeks, you should buy early an often to always get it at the cheapest rates. On the local news last night several gas stations are charging 4.30 for credit card purchases and 3.80 for cash. Since I deliver pizza, I go to Wal-Mart and put gas money on a shopping card and use Wal-Mart's pumps for .03c a gallon off. BTW, I no longer have the TA, it was repossesed. I am currently in a 2000 Dodge Intrepid ES (Luxury Model), with leather, and it is my first car with A/C. People are organising demonstrations outisde refineries, the media irresponibly reported this as 'blockades', which resulted in panic buying at the pumps, now there's hardly a drop of fuel to be found in Scotland. The cards are the "Citi Dividend Platinum Select" and "Chase Cash Plus." They usually have a promotion for $50-$100 in bonus points for signing up... They are untiered cards i.e. 5% back right away, without having to reach certain spending levels like many rewards cards require. There is no annual fee, and the 5% rebate is not part of a intro promotion -- it is a permanent benefit of the card. Most of the various 'deals forums' constantly rank these cards as some of the best. Also, these are completely separate companies and I have no financial incentive for posting this, just figured some of you might be interested since this is the best rewards card I have come across. I go through roughly two tanks per week of premium (required for my car ), so any extra savings is worth it. Most gas companies also have rewards cards for 5% back or so on their own brand, but then you are restricted to buying from them. The only catch with this card is that the rewards are limited to $300 per year, which is $6000 in charges if you only use it at gas stations, supermarkets, and drug stores. I just use it to buy gas and go to the grocery store, and use my GM Card for 5% back towards a new GM car on everything else.
