I ride a scooter to work, and I get about 100 miles to the gallon. it holds about 1.5 gallons. so I'm good for now, I have been transitioning over to my bicycle two days out of the week I plan by the end of summer to be on the bike about 3 to 4 days out of the week (weather permitting). In other news today, U.S. worker productivity rose by a greater than expected rate. Apparently Americans are working their asses off trying to pay those bills. In response to that improved worker productivity, the price of oil rose beyond $123 per barrel. I guess once enough Americans get their stimulus checks in the mail the oil speculators will use that as another excuse to raise the prices even more. Today it was $3.75. .26 cent jump in one day. I work only 4 miles from the house, so commuting isn't that big of a deal for me. At the local commuter rail station down the street from my office, the parking lot that is usually always empty is now almost completley full. Christ, at the ballpark...it is going for $4.00 for 20Oz. What is it going for in theatres? There can be no doubt that fuel prices though are going to hurt all businesses like theatres where there are cheaper alternatives to going out. People only make but so much money in a given year (and it seems to be less and less each year...not a good trend) and movies, particularly in theatres, is something one can do without to help make ones financial situation work or work better. Kidding aside, we sell bottled water at the theater for almost $3! And people frequently leave them half full in the cupholders. Honestly, I see absolutely no logic in buying bottled water. No safety regulations exist to control it and some tests on TV shows like 20/20 have shown it to be more dirty and contaminated than ordinary tap water in many areas of the nation. If you really want truly pure water, buy distilled water. All the impurities are removed. Back to gasoline and oil... ...oil prices hit a new record today. They passed the $126 per barrel mark. Some analysts are saying $150 and $200 per barrel oil is now possible. Soaring fuel and food prices are beginning to slow down economies around the world. Some investors may be sensing a correction on the way. Exxon|Mobil shares lost 1% and led a number of energy stocks lower in trading today.  |  IP: Logged
