The heated seats and traction control should prove nice around these parts too. Only 67,000 miles! I've dreamt of driving this car ever since I laid eyes on it...and now I have it. I had an '08 Chevy HHR before that. What a piece. 60% foreign parts! If I'm going to own a foreign car I'd rather it be up front about it! Much smoother ride. My only concern is all the computer controlled shit. There is a battery in the trunk for the basics - start car, headlights, just normal car functions. Then there is a battery in the engine compartment for all of the electronics. There is no dipstick to check the oil level, I have to rely on the computer to warn me if it ever gets low. There is some bitch that turns down my radio and tells me where and when to turn if I typed in directions. Also 5-speed. I swapped in a 1.6 from a Mazda 323 (stock is 1.3) for a 30% increase in power. It's not a mid-life crisis thing, I've always been a car guy. Last week when I was visiting my friend at the dealership, they looked up how many cars I had bought from them and their database only went back to about a dozen cars. We counted about another dozen from memory. Before I got married, I used to trade in cars every time I saw one I liked. Thats the hazard of having a best friend who is the manager of a high end dealership. Last week my kids were in town and after a few driving lessons/instructions, I gave my 18 yr. old daughter a set of keys and said they can take it any time they wanted. They found "Little Red Corvette" on my usb drive and were jamming to it one afternoon when they pulled up. You can hear the music about a block away,but you can actually "feel" it about a half block away. Don't worry old people, I turn it down at stoplights and parking lots. Posts: 4247 From: Bloomington, IN, USA Registered: Feb 2002 posted 08-12-2014 10:50 AM                     Now that I've lived in Indiana for a few years, and I've also discovered the joy of road-tripping, I'm starting to think about replacing the 2004 Saturn Ion. It runs great, and there is no "real" reason to ditch it, but I'm not exactly in love with it anymore. I bought it when (a) I lived in Southern California, which means it lacks some of the nice winter features; and (b) I was a poor student, which means it has no comfort features for long road trips. My next car must have: Cruise control GPS Antilock braking system Heated seats and steering wheel ...and I kinda want it to be an SUV or crossover. That's not asking much. Right? But, here's the thing: In terms of looks, the car that keeps turning my head is the Lexus RX300 series. The Buick Encore looks nice, but it might be a little too small. Sold the Festiva to my older brother, bought a '96 Chevy K1500 Silverado. 350 V8, leather, black, great overall shape. Rolled it into a snow bank last winter near Sheridan, WY when the left front tire caught a snow drift on the Interstate. State Trooper said we used up all nine lives that day. John Wilson though we were in Fargo. I also had two full Century booths in the back, pedestals and all. It landed upright atop a 4' snow bank with only a broken passenger side window. We dug it out with the help of a tow truck driver and then went off to Buffalo, got a new window installed, did the service call in Buffalo and went on to Laramie. Takes a likin, keeps on tickin. Sean Weitzel got the Century's and there wasn't a scratch on the gear. Am going to buy another one when it hits 300K. Wife is still driving our 07 Hummer back and forth to work and it is also our weekend off road car and has been 100% reliable. 107K on it now. We will drive it till it breaks down and have to abandon it somewhere out in the wilderness! And keep saying "thank you" to that big snow drift to keep the top from caving in and stopping that roll. This is of course assuming it has little to no rust, a solid tranny and engine(I.e. no burning oil, etc)  |  IP: Logged Sam D.
