quote: Bobby Henderson "LLY" is just a product code, not an acronym. It denotes the generation of Duramax Diesel engine (LB7, LLY, LBZ, LMM, LMK, LML, LGH). Diesel engines are great for towing trailers
LLY is the 2004.5-2005 version of the Duramax engine. Each generation of the engine produces greater horsepower & torque than the previous.
LLY was also the 1st year that GM began implementing a lot of the emissions controls, but before the DPF. My only regret is that 2006 is the year that they started putting the 6 speed Allison transmissions in.
The Allison transmission is easily the best transmission in the pickup market.
Diesel fuel is more expensive per gallon, but is also more efficient. Without the trailer I get just shy of 20MPG in a 3/4 ton truck - in city driving.

1999 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3 4WD is my DD. 155k
1996 Camaro Z28 is what I drive in the summer if it is not raining out. It has headers, 3.42:1 gears, intake, 3" exhaust, suspension mods, etc. etc. 100k
2004 Yamaha FZ6 is my sunny day toy, bought this one new. Has 10k miles on it.
1992 Ford Ranger 4x4 is for getting firewood on my property or just tooling around behind my house. 200k and is a piece of junk, but always starts and takes any abuse I throw at it.
I have a couple quads and a dirtbike too, but those don't see commuter duty.
