He was looking to distribute an "all-in-one" FM sound system for drive-ins. We had already built our first version. He approached us about having us manufacture them and having him sell them. To get started, he just needed us to send him two "samples". We later learned he was planning to reverse-engineer and make them himself. After we backed out, he came up with the "Sky Monitor". The gist I'm getting is that he would buy products at wholesale to sell to customers. But the people he bought the stuff from to begin with never got paid. So, no; you weren't being ignorant. I was just pointing out that a customer having a good experience with the guy doesn't mean he is, in fact, a good guy. The only way for the guy to be ignorant is if it was WIDELY KNOWN (among customers) that the guy sucked. Hell, when I went to clean a lens on one of our projectors (since one of the staff reported a scratch that really wasn't a scratch), I realized I was using CPI lens cleaning cloth. Though that isn't even the stuff our company uses anymore (we just have some left from before the merger). He could then sell at ANY price. It is easy to compete with me when you get the equipment for free!! My customer ended up thinking that I was the one who was too much money!!! He masqueraded as a dealer, even though he bought from other dealers; just not paying them. When I was working tech for a small indy theater in Franklin TN the manager on duty was in a panic about losing a lamp and called Ron who sent over a lamp in a unmarked box and an invoice for $700.00 the manager failed to call me and when I found out I told him to pack it back up and return it. I saw the bulb and the writing was Chinese I don't know what the make was but I told the owners to never do business with this guy.
