I believe you know where I am going with this. If Brad is right and I think he is, I will not see much difference between 720p and 1080p with the Panasonic PT-AX100U projector. If that is the case then the only upgrade besides a new projector would be a sound system that as a HDMI input and output. Micro Center has 12 ft HDMI cables for about $70. The 3 ft one are $25. I do know I am not going to replace that Panasonic projector any time soon unless I get a really good trade-in. Actually I think Brad is cool. He has some good ideas. General Patton never lost respect for his adversaries. They are always piping the lows from the main channels into the subwoofer or the subwoofer is completely turned off. Personally, I only like the subwoofer on when it is being discretely called for. The 1080p setting with the HDMI cable is no better then 720p with component cable using a Panasonic 1280x720 projector. The best setups are 720p using Blu-ray DVD's and 480p using SDDVD's with component cables. The HDMI cable although works, does have some static every so often. The SDDVD's upscaled to 1080p look out of focus. They look much better, sharper, played at 480p with component cable. So the bottom line, there is a noticable difference playing Blu ray at 720p vs SDDVD at 420p using component cable. Then very little difference playing Blu ray between 720p and 1080p at least with a 1280x720 digital projector using HDMI cable. Otherwise I'd recommend hooking it up via HDMI and setting the output resolution of the player to 720p. When I started into this digital, all I wanted to do is have a matched set. That is, have the connections and setting match the equipment I have. No more or no less and that has been done. You love them or hate them. Corvette that is. Anyway I returned that $25 HDMI cable to Wal-mart and dropped by the video store to pick up a few more Blu ray rentals for $4 each. I am going to see how those go. Then I notice that I think I like the HD-DVD selection better. Since now I know I only need a 720 p Player, the Toshiba A3 for $249 at Curcuit City may really be my best bet. It is approaching 200K miles...still AVERAGES 24 MPG. If you are into Vetts there is no shame in owning one...to each their own. In fact, I'd like to buy a new one myself but I have other priorities at the moment.
