Having just moved into his new office, a pompous new colonel was
sitting at his desk when an airman knocked on the door.

Conscious of his new position, the colonel quickly picked up the phone, told the airman to enter, and then said into the phone: "Yes, General, I'll be seeing him the afternoon and I'll pass along your message. In the meantime, thank you for your good wishes, sir."

Feeling as though he had sufficiently impressed the young enlisted
man, he asked, "What do you want, soldier?"

"Nothing important, sir," the airman replied, "I'm just here to hook
up your telephone."

Navy...

Ah - the Navy - It's an adventure ... the suggestions below are
made on behalf of those who think the Navy is a "TOP GUN" existence. You know, those who watched one too many episodes of
JAG, and think that Navy life is glamorous. To experience Navy life, try a couple of these - right in the comfort of your own homes.

1. Buy a dumpster, paint it gray and live in it for 6 months
straight.

2. Run all of the piping and wires inside your house on the outside of the walls.

3. Pump 10 inches of nasty, crappy water into your basement, then pump it out, clean up, and paint the basement "deck gray."

4. Every couple of weeks, dress up in your best clothes and go the scummiest part of town, find the most run down, trashy bar you can, pay $10 per beer until you're hammered, then walk home in the freezing cold.

5. Perform a weekly disassembly and inspection of your lawn mower.

6. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays turn your water temperature up to 200 degrees, then on Tuesday and Thursday turn it down to 10 degrees. On Saturdays, and Sundays declare to your entire family that they used too much water during the week, so all showering is secured.

7. Raise your bed to within 6 inches of the ceiling.

8. Have your next door neighbor come over each day at 5am, and blow a whistle so loud that Helen Keller could hear it and shout "Reveille,
Reveille, all hands heave out and trice up."

9. Have your mother-in-law write down everything she's going to do the following day, then have her make you stand in the back yard at 6am and read it to you.

10. Eat the raunchiest Mexican food you can find for three days
straight, then lock the bathroom door for 12 hours, and hang a sign on it that reads "Secured - contact OA DIV at X-3053."

11. Submit a request form to your father-in-law, asking if it's
ok for you to leave your house before 3pm.

12. Invite 200 of your not-so-closest friends to come over, then
board up all the windows and doors to your house for 6 months. After the 6 months is up, take down the boards, and since you're on duty, wave at your friends and family trough the front window of your home...you can't leave until the next day.

13. Shower with above-mentioned friends.

14. Make your family qualify to operate all the appliances in
your home (i.e. Dishwasher operator, blender technician, etc)

15. Walk around your car for 4 hours checking the tire pressure
every 15 minutes.

16. Sit in your car and let it run for 4 hours before going
anywhere. This is to ensure your engine is properly "lit off".

17. Empty all the garbage bins in your house, and sweep your
driveway 3 times a day, whether they need it or not.

18. Repaint your entire house once a month.

19. Cook all of your food blindfolded, groping for any spice and
seasoning you can get your hands on.

20. Have your neighbor collect all your mail for a month,
randomly losing every 5th item.

21. Spend $20,000 on a satellite system for your TV, but only
watch CNN and the Weather Channel.

22. Have your 5-year-old cousin give you a haircut with goat
shears.

23. Sew back pockets to the front of your pants.

24. Spend 2 weeks in the red-light districts of Europe, and call
it "world travel."

25. Attempt to spend 5 years working at McDonald, and NOT get
promoted.

26. Needle gun the aluminum siding on your house after your
neighbors have gone to bed.

As a young man in the Navy, I will confess to not being all that careful about who I dated. This one young thang and I connected, and following dinner and a movie, she agreed to a motel. After a very pleasant love-making session I noticed the time. I asked her if her Mother didn't pose questions about where she had been.

She replied, "My Mother doesn't care what I do. it's that damned truant officer who keeps asking a lot of silly questions."

During an arctic training exercise in Alaska intense cold played havoc with vehicles and equipment. One harassed battery commander was trying to cope with vehicles that wouldn't run and machinery that wouldn't work.

He was wondering what else could go wrong when the door opened and a soldier rushed in to announce, "Hey, captain, the Northern Lights are out!

Exasperated and without looking, the captain barked, "Well, go get the generator mechanic and have him fix the damn things!" [Cool]

VALID IDENTIFICATION:

During a readiness exercise, Jim and Stan, Air Force security policemen, were guarding entry to a bunker-like structure where
aircrafts were kept.

When a pilot about to do a preflight check approached without his
identification in plain view, Jim asked him for it.

"I don't see why I have to show you my ID," the pilot snapped. "After all, it is my plane."

"Sir, with all due respect, it may be your plane," replied Jim, "but it's sitting in my garage!" [Big Grin]

Army Ranger

There was an Army ranger deployed to Afghanistan. While he was there he received a letter from his girlfriend. In the letter she explained that she had slept with two guys while he had been gone and she wanted to breakup AND she wants pictures of herself back. So the Ranger does what anysquared away Ranger would do. He went around to his buddies and collected all the unwanted photos of women he could find.

He then mailed about 25 pictures to his girlfriend with the following note:

"I'm sorry but I can't remember which one you are but please take
the one that belongs to you and send the rest back. [Big Grin]

Thank you.

I was in the band at Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota.

Our group was required to play for all generals who arrived on our
base. One morning, when our commanding officer heard on the radio that a General Frost was expected just after noon, he sent
us scrambling to the flight line with instruments.

One of the musicians had also heard the radio announcement. He took the C.O. aside for a whispered conference.

When they returned, the officer told us the performance was canceled.

There was no arriving general.

We had almost played for the weather forecast. [Big Grin]

Last week I came down with the flu, loose as a goose at both ends,
so I went to the doctor. Sat out in the waiting room for half an
hour.

Finally was taken into this little room to wait on the doctor. waited in there about another half hour. It was about 25 degrees outside and about 15 degrees in that room.

Finally The doctor comes in. Tells me to raise my shirt, and puts the
stethoscope against my back,(had just taken it from the freezer),says umm , uhuh, asked me if I smoke, I said yes. Asked me if I was left or right handed.(don't know what that had to do with anything.), said I was right handed. Asked me if I was allergic to penicillin, told him no.

He writes me out a prescription, andstarts to leave telling me the nurse will be in to give me a flu shot, and leaves. total time he's there 10 min. in a few minutes the nurse comes in gives me a shot and I leave.

Total time there, almost 2hrs. Never did find out what's wrong with me, anyway went got prescription filled. Went home opened the bottle to take the pills, I've had smaller suppositories, Each pill about inch long, half inch diameter. Have to take 2 twice a day, take with food, hell after taking two of them, I'm full no room for food.

Checked package for side effects. Guess what, side effects may cause
vomiting and diarrhea, the same darn thing I went to the doctor
for in the first place. [Big Grin]

~ A Special Present ~

There's a special present under the tree this year.
Wrapped in paper of red, white, and blue.
I walked in to find the children,
Constructing it especially for you.

Their little hands were covered with glitter,
Bits of paper scattered everywhere.
I had to quietly laugh at seeing them
With glue stuck in their hair.

I slipped out of the room unnoticed by them
And sat down in front of the tree.
The glowing lights and smells of Christmas
Quickly brought visions of you to me.

Suddenly, I heard little feet running down the hall.
I knew their project must now be done.
They handed me the crumpled present and asked,
if I would please help wrap this one.

On this sheet of paper a big star they had placed,
With stick-people looking up toward the sky.
They waited in anticipation for my approval.
Their faces glowed with pride

At the bottom, a note was scribbled
In a child's special little way,
To let you know they only asked Santa
For one thing this Christmas Day.

We asked Santa if he would hang a special star,
While he was up there in the sky.
So that you can look up and see our gift
From where you are tonight.

Santa said it wouldn't be hard to find it.
He would put the biggest one there for you.
Because, we know there's lots of stars
And they're real far away too.

So before you go to sleep Christmas night,
Look way up in the sky
You'll see our star Santa left for you,
While he was flying by.

Then they signed it at the bottom
in your favorite color, blue.
We know why you're a soldier Mommy
and we're so proud of you.

Dedicated to all the women serving in our US Military

Army Rules for Gun Fighting

1. Bring a gun. Preferably, bring at least two guns.
Bring all of your friends who have guns.

2. Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice.
Ammo is cheap. Life is pricey.

3. Only hits count. The only thing worse than a miss
is a slow miss.

4. If your shooting stance is good, you're probably not
moving fast enough nor using cover correctly.

5. Move away from your attacker. Distance is your friend.
Lateral and diagonal movement are preferred.

6. If you can choose what gun to bring to a gunfight,
bring a long gun, and a friend with a long gun.

7. In ten years, nobody will remember the details, such
as your caliber, stance, or tactics. They will remember
who walked away after the gunfight.

8. If you are not shooting, your ass should be reloading.

9. Accuracy is relative; most combat shooting standards
will be more dependent on "pucker factor" than the
inherent accuracy of the shot fired.

10. Use a gun that works EVERY time. Remember, "All
skill is in vain when an angel pisses in the flintlock
of your musket."

11. Someday, someone may kill you with your own gun,
but they should have to beat you to a bloody pulp with
it, because it's empty.

12. Always cheat;always win.The only unfair fight is the
one you lose.

13. Have a plan.

14. Have a backup plan, because the first one will fail.

15. Use cover and concealment as much as possible. The
visible target should be in FRONT of your gun.

16. Flank your adversary when possible.Protect yours.

17. Don't drop your guard.

18. Always tactical load and threat scan 360 degrees.

19. Watch their hands.Hands kill.Everyone else,keep
your damn hands where I can see them.

20. Decide to be aggressive enough quick enough.

21. Speed counts. The faster you finish the fight, the
less you get shot.

22. Be polite.Be professional.But be sure to have a
definite plan to kill everyone you meet.

23. Be courteous to everyone;friendly to no one.

24. Your number one option for personal security is a
lifelong commitment to avoidance,deterrence,and
de-escalation.
25. Do not attend a gunfight with a handgun, the caliber
of which does not start with a 4.The bigger the number,
the bigger the hole!

Navy Rules to Gun Fighting

1. Adopt an aggressive offshore posture.
2. Send in the Marines. [beer]
3. Drink coffee.

U.S. Air Force

One night at McChord Air Force Base in Washington, I was dispatched to check out the security fence where an alarm had gone off. The fence was at the end of the base runway. When I got to the scene, I found that a raccoon was the culprit, so I ran around and flapped my arms to scare off the animal.

Suddenly an air-traffic controller came over the public-address
system and announces loudly, "Attention to the airman at the end
of the runway.

You are cleared for takeoff."

The first woman recruit in the Army reported for duty and was told that although her quarters would be in a separate building, she was to mess with the men.

It wasn't until four weeks later someone finally told her that meant to eat her meals with them. [Big Grin]

Easy -- they patterned it after Army and Marine food. [Big Grin]
