Couldn't agree more with you. Often I have been surprised by old mono mixes from the 1950s and 1960s on studio prints - totally different from mono sound on TV (compressed, denoised, pseudo-"stereophonized") or on video tape.

Of course the theatre sound will not have the dynamics and frequency range of modern digital formats or mag sound, but most vintage major studio mixes sound very pleasing because the sound people knew well the limits of the Academy format and manipulated their mixes to enhance the listening experience. I have noticed this especially with MGM musicals from the late 1940s and on mixdowns from 1950s 4-track magnetic to mono optical - very full, very "musical" sound in the theatre. No need to "improve" on those tracks!

And don't forget about the Klangfilm mono format which was used for a long time on many releases in Germany and pobably other European countries as well. It had much less HF rolloff than Academy mono. We actually had a Klangfilm profile in a few SDDS DFP-D3000 in Berlin, and I got to see a few prints in that format. The sound was pretty good.

Kintek wasn't into EQ but there were HF/LF trims located on the KT-721 board...the labels are in the foils so it shouldn't be too hard to locate. If I ever get around to it...I'll get my KT700 info posted to Brad.

The extender board should be located with the power supply on the left. I advise depowering the system whenever boards are removed/installed. One feature I did like is each board had its own regulator...thus a power supply board wouldn't take the system down (note each card had its own bypass button...of the dime store grade with extension sticks and genuine heat shrink...as another person has noted).

I see the HF and LF trims on the 721 card, but I also have trims on the 750/780 combo boards. They are L HF/LF; C HF/LF; R HF/LF; S HF/LF , which I believe are Left Center Right and Surround, but since there is only one extender board and neither the 750/780 functions by itself, I don't know how one is suppose to be able to use these trims.

After wading through the endless gauntlet of filmce1s i was able to find:

a bunch of affordable, but red as beets exploitation features from this seller

another huge batch of trailers and a couple of features, and some odd reels for SW episode III from this guy

how am I ever supposed to get some of my movies off cores with this guy stealing all the goldbergs

The KT-721 only relates to MONO films and the KT750/KT-780 is only for Stereo films...so you would need to tune each set. Use the Extender for each card, one at a time.

In truth, my KT700s all fed another processor so I had them set FLAT (where the tick mark is). I'm amazed your KT700 still works reliably.

For 10 bucks I couldn't care less if I received 3 odd reels for Spy Kids. (of which a full copy appeared on eBay a few weeks ago) [Big Grin]

You could fart your way to the top in the 19th century La Petomane reel Really a pretty rare title to find on 35mm that begs the questions: Why would anyone make a film of this subject ("...touching homage") and how can one retire from farting?

"Plot Synopsis (SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!)

Le Petomane is a touching homage by screenwriting duo Ray Galton and Alan Simpson to a unique 19th century French cabaret artiste called Joseph Pujol whose claim to fame was the ability to control with great precision the expulsion of air from his elastic anus. Pujol, here portrayed by the late Leonard Rossiter, whilst in the army discovered he could entertain his barracks comrades by farting. When he left the army Pujol turned his back on the family bakery business and instead took to the stage with his inimitable act. He adopted the stage name "Le Petomane", roughly translated the fart maniac, and worked his way up the comedy ladder until he was performing in 1892 he was a performer at the famous Parisian music hall, the Moulin Rouge. Pujol had Parisians rolling in the aisles with his repertoire of cannon fire, frogs, and musical tunes of the day and his rousing encore of La Marsellaise. But with ensuing age and the outbreak of WWI; Pujol retired."

This is the source of one of the many hilarious jokes in the movie "Blazing Saddles." Le Petomane is the name of the governor, played by Mel Brooks. [thumbsup]
