I like this thread. It really helps to be able to rant a little sometimes to vent....

Something just made me angry. Got a telemarketing call on my cell phone. I've not given my cell phone number out to anyone but friends, so evidentaly, there is a way they can get the lists of numbers.

It wasn't even a human, but a recording. I looked up the number it told me to call on the internet and got this: http://www.whiteice.com/~tv2go/scripts/ncc_transcript.html which even had the transcript of the actual recording that was played on my cell phone when I answered.

Transcript of Prerecorded telephone Solicitation Initiated by
National Consumer Council on behalf of
Liberty Financial Group and Financial Rescue Services

"This is Jeffrey Caldwell with the National Consumer Council at 1-800-990-3990. I'm calling in regard to your consumer credit cards and the high interest rates that they carry. Your record is now in our database and we would be able to cut your monthly payments in half. Interest rates are extremely low now and as a matter of fact the prime rate is currently at four point two five percent. Finally it's lower than five. So just think of how much money you could save by getting out from under those cards. We'll help you no matter what your current situation is. So I encourage you to call us here at the NCC. We are a non-profit organization and we are formed to help consumers just like yourself. There will be no charge for any advice that we give you yet we will show you how to be debt free. So please call the council at 1-800-990-3990. Thank you."

Their address is
1025 Connecticut Ave NW
Suite 1012
Washington D.C. 20036

If they'd like to cut my debt in half, since I pay my card off every month, half of zero is still zero. Sure, the interest rate on my card is rather high, but since I always pay it off, I don't care. It's tempting to send them a bill for a two-minute call on my cell phone.

I have more things that make me ANGRY!

-When people thread the projector top to bottom and don't realize the difference threading bottom-up makes.
quote:
The Bible said:
Ted 8:4-9
And so the projectionist whom threads top to bottom shall be cast into the firey pits of hell, where he shall have many unspeakable deeds done unto him. He shall be forced to endure such atrocities as "Pluto Nash", "Nash Bridges", "The Bridges of Madison County", "On the Line starring Lance Bass", and "Master of Disguise" for all eternity. There shall be no repentance, no forgiveness, and no salvation for these lost souls. For they have forsaken the Lord.

-When videogames that I am playing do not cooperate and I lose.

-Not being happy.

I liked Master of Disguise Ok???

And I thread from top to bottom too so there! I realize bottom to top is faster, I've just always done it the other way!

People (other than Joe) quoting (Insert favorite cuss word here) from the Bible and/or preaching how all should live. [bs]

For those that do... oy vay! ...in it's real meaning!

Myself, like Michael are perfect and without sin. We both have a big pile of stones (Oh and Ummm BS) to throw. [Razz] [Big Grin]

BTW: I don't think things are any better or worse than at any other time in history. There has been and always will be "good" and "bad" people….. it's all part of this great thing we call LIFE! [beer]

So if you've always done it the other way there's no reason for change, right? I always used to do it that way as well. It's not just a speed or accuracy issue... it's also a cleanliness issue. I've taught lots of people who've only done it top to bottom to thread bottom-up... they like the new method better. I am not sure I understand why people are even trained top to bottom to begin with... it doesn't make sense.

OK. My turn.

Things that get on my nerves in general:

1. Morons who routinely visit old crapppy theaters yet flatly refuse to buy/rent any DVD that has less than a 5.1 digital surround track. The upshot: I won't have to worry about them borrowing my copy of "Citizen Kane."

2. Cottage Cheese. It will make me vomit. I promise.

3. The alarm clock in the morning. I do like the snooze button though.

4. Ignorance of "the cut down code:" Friends mutually cut each other down to size yet treat others outside their group with polite respect. Too many people do exactly the opposite, or just behave like an asshole to anyone. Our culture encourages this crap.

5. Hangovers.

6. People who steal and vandalize stuff for fun. I would wish brain cancer upon such scum -provided if they had any brains.

7. People that want to smoke in my truck. If you want to smoke you can walk.

8. Getting left on hold for several minutes by someone who took a call-waiting phone call. After 30 seconds or so, I hang up and leave the house to run some errands. They can call back and hash it out with my answering machine.

9. People who expect everyone else to live by a certain strict set of rules while they apply a different, loose set of flexible rules for themselves. I guess that's the long way of saying, "I hate hypocrisy."

10. People who try to rationalize selfish, mean, irresponsible or dishonest behavior as if it is somehow justified or acceptable. I won't even try to start affording such individuals with any courtesy, much less respect, until they own up to their own bullshit.

More stuff in a couple other categories to be posted later...

1. Giant port windows.

2. Giant port windows that are placed so that I still have to bend down to see the screen.

I did it from the bottom for a while but just kind of gave up...too lazy to really practice I guess. Just cause it makes you angry I'll try to reteach myself again...at least its a good habit.

Car commercials that show people in a showroom walking across the frame everywhere, yet going nowhere. And you see the same people crossing in every shot, but no one is looking at the cars -- just walking.

Tim I know exactly what you mean! I see a lot of those nowadays (when I actually watch TV). I think to myself:
quote:
Joe Redifer thinks:
"Why the hell would I want to go to that dealer? It's buzzing with people wandering around aimlessly. The staff looks hopelessly busy so I'll never get helped if I have a question or actually want to buy a car. I need to pee. Yeah... I think I'll pee now."

This has probably been discussed ad nauseam here, but I am just too lazy to use the search function - what difference does it make from which direction you thread?

Here's another category:

Things that irritate me in the single's scene:
----------------------------------------------
1. P.D.A. Single people aren't the only ones annoyed by it either. New couples need to just go home and get their damned orgasm over with already instead of sucking face in front of everyone at the mall.

2. When women have more tattoos than men.

3. Guys who expect me to lend a sympathetic ear to stories involving their paternity suits, divorces from silconed "trophy wives" or heart broken women that won't stop pursuing them. Having never been married nor fathered any children of my own, what makes them think I'm the guy to talk to about this shit!?

4. Getting stood up on Christmas.

5. Match-making dumb-asses. Some people just have to insist on setting me up with "a special girl they know." Almost always they have the worst possible taste when doing it. Instead of thinking about things like common interests, compatible personalities and mutual attraction the only criteria they seem to observe is: "let's find a girl as pathetic as Bob!"

6. When women completely shave their naughty region. If I'm going to do the "69" I don't like making facial contact with something that feels like a 5 o'clock shadow. I'm not asking for the 1970's style "Sasquatch" look, but let the hair grow at least a little!

7. The "I need my space" line of bullshit. You don't figure out the truth for certain until a month later when one of your friends sees her at a store trying on wedding dresses (true story by the way).

8. Women who take the opportunity when turning down a dance or date to dish out some insults for some good cruel fun. The few who do it need to save it for the alpha-male bad-boy types that pissed them off in the first place. It is cowardly for them to pull that crap on someone they consider to be harmless. Grow a pair and direct the flak at the character-flawed assholes you find attractive. And then go and see a f**king therapist!

9. Platonic female friends that date men who can't/won't dance. They want me to dance with them all night long to keep from getting bored riding a bar stool. And that can do a good job of cock-blocking an available fellow from meeting women without boyfriends.

10. Platonic female friends that play jealousy games to piss off a lady I've started dating. Here's the juice: if I get dumped over this shit, our "friendship" gets dumped too.

For the single scheme, from the other angle:

1. Attractive people that are snotty and won't speak to you if you speak to them to try to be friendly.

2. People that are so stuck up in themselves that they won't make eye contact with you when you walk by.

3. People that turn their head slightly and quickly when you make eye contact with them to let you know they're better than you.

4. People that interact with their cell phone more than other people. There was one guy I've talked to some and recently, all he does is talk on his cell phone and pound messages into it all the time to talk to people online.

5. Like I said before, cell phone slaves that put cell phone conversations over conversations with you.

6. The inabiity to find a guy that likes other guys and would like a close guy friend but that doesn't want sex.

7. Slutty-looking girls that expect me to be attracted to them.

8. Underage people that hit on me. Ugh.

9. Guys that hit on me, show interest, and never talk to me again once they find out I don't want sex.

10. People that let peer pressure rule their lives. I've lost friends before because their friends didn't think I was "cool".

11. People who seem content to just chug along doing as little as possible with no desire to better themselves by improving their education or looking for a job more suited for their abilities (assuming they have abilities).

12. Intelligent people I would really love to be friends with that schedule every minute of their lives outside school and/or work so they can't be friends with anyone. What a waste.

13. Guy friends that get girlfriends and drop all activities with their friends.

14. Guy friends who get married and drop off the face of the earth.

15. People that pretend to be friendly to you, but are really doing it for reasons such as: (a) Their friends are curious about various aspects of me, so they're getting friendly with me to find out what they want to know. (b) They're curious themselves. (c) They're doing it for some reason that their friends find humorous.

16. People that are only friendly with you when they need or want something from you, or want to use you somehow.

17. People that gossip and spread all kinds of crap. You wouldn't believe some of the rumors I've heard that have come back to me in the past.

18. Long-haired guys that act snotty and won't speak to me. You'd think long-haired guys would be friendly to other long-haired guys, right? Wrong. There's something terribly amiss with the younger long-haired ones these days.

19. Flaky people that seem to be great new friends when you meet them, but suddenly a week or two after meeting them, everything about them seems to fall apart (job, school, home life, health, etc). This has happened more times than you'd believe.

20. People that can't be themselves and rely on alcohol or drugs to have fun. I can't deal with that. A beer or two or some equivalent amount of alcohol occasionally is OK, but I have no desire to get drunk or be around drunk people.

21. People in their 20s that treat single people in their 30s as if they have a disease or something.
